This is now officially my fifth mod I have uploaded to NexusMods (2 got taken down -_-). I have made countless mods for countless games but only kept them to myself. Now I will be branching out into small file replacements and simple but funny changes, before I eventually, somewhere down the road, start actually making large mods to upload. But only after I get used to publishing mods.
What it does:
But if anyone specifically asks for a certain size change I could try to work something out sooner than later.
Certain things are a bit awkward to do with Sanctuary Hills, since it is originally a very wonky boundary, I just set every value to even (but very large) numbers, so the true borders do not match up exactly with what shows in game. Though they are close enough to what it shows and big enough in size, that that really isn't too much of a problem.
-
- Massive version is so large it will make NPCs glitch out and freeze, and if you try to bring them in with sirens and bells, they will sprint to you at first, but then their pathing will bug out and they will ram into each other like rats. Then your game will glitch out like a 1990's window PC Virus, colors everywhere, then a crash. So don't use Massive, unless you want a temporary change far away, then disable that version and pick an actual version. (Your changes made will save, just the boundary size will change after switching versions.)
- Massive is only meant as a temporary version to mess with things really far away, in case you don't have a mod that lets you build super anywhere at anytime, or cannot download a mod like that, because of mod conflicts. Though, don't use this version permanently, Massive is BUGGY ASL!!!
- BigAndBalanced version is meant for actual gameplay, NOT MASSIVE!
- The boundary is not perfectly scaled to align with the visible boundary marks you see in game (can be fixed, but will take more time, if asked of enough, I will try to do for you all.)
"Massive" problem(s):
1.) I tried making sure it didn't overlap with Red Rocket at first, but then I said "Fu¢k that, that's too much nitpicking and too annoying, and just made it not enter concord! This again, can be fixed if someone has a big problem with it. Gameplay wise it doesn't really matter, you just exit before you enter Red Rocket build area, and reopen and you'll be building for Red Rocket, since the game prioritizes that area over the insanely large and overlapping Sanctuary Hills.
2.) Have to be in render distance of workshop bench in order to open menu.
3.) NPC pathing is completely broken and overwhelmed and will destroy your game if you actually try to play, or God forbid force them to move somewhere, EX: a raid, or bell, or siren alarm.
BigAndBalanced features!!!:
- BigAndBalanced version features a workshop size that fits closer to the boundary shown in game
- BigAndBalanced version features a workshop size that is big enough to cross the water, without overlapping other settlements, like Red Rocket.
- BigAndBalanced version features a workshop size that stretches out far enough, where the game can still render in the workshop, and no further!
- BigAndBalanced fixes issue with rendering distance from the workshop being too large, and doesn't overwhelm AI and NPC pathing!
Q: Why? Couldn't I just download other settlement boundary size changing mods?
A: Sure, I guess, but this wasn't meant for an overhaul, this is meant as a standalone size increaser. For those that really only want one place (Sanctuary Hills in this case) to be bigger, so they can't just build wherever, or (like me) feel annoyed when they build out for a long time in one direction, then suddenly they have to build with another settlement and now your plans are ruined!
B: I am sick and tired of fun small specific mods like these not really being available to the public. I was looking for this mod, and went to reddit forums, Youtube videos, various NexusMods mods, ALL asking for some kind of mod for this, without people having to make it for themselves, and yet NOTHING! Not a single mod changed only Sanctuary Hills!? SANCTUARY HILLS!! One of the most important and readily available settlements you get at the start of the game! I mean, everyone would see your changes and be more likely to endorse your mod, that's just crazy how no one has ever thought, hey let's help out the people who don't know how to mod and make this real quick! Whatever, I did it for you all, and for myself. You're welcome!!!<3
Q: Why Sanctuary Hills? I fu¢king hate Preston Garvey!
A: Fair point, but Sanctuary Hills is where you start, and if you're testing new mod installs you will likely start your experiments in Sanctuary Hills, and if you keep that character as an actually playthrough character, now you already have a large base set up at Sanctuary Hills that you already put hours upon hours into! Moving all that and adapting it to a new settlement is SUCH A HASSTLE!? So keep it with this mod, now nothing will imitate you, and you can build to your hearts content!
Another point I have, is that I find it to be a very good template for building a large scale base. Yet I also am limited by the size in certain directions, specifically around the bridge. For example, say I wish to build a massive welcoming dome around the bridge adorned with private security turrets, cameras, fancy lights, a wider bridge, defense posts and a small processing center, amazing idea! Now let's go do tha-! AAANNNDDDD I can't build out here... WELL NOT ANYMORE! Build as far out as you want! Don't let the game limit your imagination!!!
Install Guide:
1a. If you install manually, just drag and drop the ".esp" file into your Data directory. It does not replace anything, so you will be A-OKAY!!!
OR
2. If you install through mod managers, like Vortex (what I use) load this mod like normal and you'll be set. This is only incompatible with other settlement border changer mods, but assuming you do not have any, you'll be fine!
Not Compatible with other mods that change the workshop borders of Sanctuary Hills.
