Originally I created this bug fix for Immersive Fast Travel, but was made aware that this bug fix applies to the vanilla game as well.
Have you ever wondered why enemies spawn right inside your settlement during settlement attacks? While there are several reasons why that can happen, the vanilla "Fast Travel Mat" workshop item and the teleporters from Immersive Fast Travel are a certain way to cause the problem, at least for some settlements. In these settlements, when you build such mat or teleporter, the attackers will spawn around it, right inside your settlement. That's because Bethesda linked map markers to attack markers.
The problem applies to:
- Egret Tours Marina
- Outpost Zimonja
- Taffington Boathouse
This problem may also apply to other mods, if they incorrectly link special markers to map markers. Point Lookout is an example, as it uses the settlement Center Marker. At least that shouldn't cause attackers to spawn in the middle of your settlement.
For most settlements this XMarker is a regular marker with no special functionality. Unfortunately, Bethesda decided to link attack markers to some map markers. When you build a mat or teleporter in such settlement, the attack marker is moved to this location - in the middle of your settlement! Not so cool...
I have created new XMarkers for the affected settlements and linked the map markers to them. Now you can build mats and teleporters without worrying about attackers spawning inside your settlements.
Just drop "IFT_MarkerFix.esp" in your Fallout 4 Data folder and activate the esp. Place this wherever you want in your load order. I suggest to load it as early as possible for an ESL flagged esp.
Deactivate "IFT_MarkerFix.esp" and remove it from your Fallout 4 Data folder.
If you installed this mod before starting a new game, there is nothing you need to do. It will work automatically. The same applies if you haven't build a Fast Travel Mat or teleporter yet in the affected settlements.
But if you have such mat or teleporter in one of the affected settlements, the attack marker is already moved inside your settlement. Don't worry, this can be fixed easily.
The preferred method is to use Move Workshop Markers. This is really the best solution in my opinion. It allows you to load all special settlement markers and drag them wherever you want, including the attack marker that sits on your mat or in your teleporter.
1. Install this attack marker fix and "Move Workshop Markers".
2. Travel to the problem settlement and load the markers. Go to your mat or teleporter, pick up the red cone and drop it somewhere outside the settlement, where you want the bad guys to spawn. Then you can unload the markers. The attack marker is now fixed.
3. You'll want to update the mat or teleport target location, so you don't appear in the original attack marker position when traveling to this settlement. Go into Workshop Mode and move the mat or teleporter a little. This updates the new marker's position to that of the mat or teleporter. From now on you'll appear on the mat or in the teleporter when you travel to this settlement WITHOUT attackers spawning next to it.
You can also use the game console to fix the attack marker. For this method you'll need the IDs of the attack markers. Here they are:
Egret Tours Marina 2649a
Outpost Zimonja 249a9
Taffington Boathouse 56cbe
The procedure is the same as above (without installing "Move Workshop Markers" of course), but step 2 is replaced by the following commands. First you need to select the attack marker:
prid <attack marker ID>
then go to wherever you want the attack marker to be outside of your settlement and move the marker to your position using:
moveto player
