BA2 Archive Version Patcher downgrades the header version of next gen ba2 archives from versions 7 and 8 to version 1. This allows the next gen archives to be loaded by older tools and game versions.

The next gen update changed the version number for BA2 archives from version 1 to versions 7 and 8 with no apparent actual changes to the file structure. BA2 Archive Version Patcher downgrades the version number to version 1. This allows the next gen archives to be loaded by older tools and game versions. It can patch individual files or all archives in a directory in just a few clicks.

Translations are possible via the translate.json if anyone really cares.
Simply extract to wherever you install your modding tools.
Run the BA2 Archive Version Patcher application to use. You can choose either to Select Archive for individual archive patching or Select Directory for patching all archives in a directory. Click Patch to patch.
Pro Tip: If using Mod Organizer and wanting to patch all BA2 files currently in your game, add as an executable and run via MO2, then browse and select the game directory.
Be aware that no backups are made, so you may want to make a manual backup if you wish to restore the original files. Since this only is changing a single byte, I didn't feel creating backups was necessary.
It can also be run as a console application so it can be used in automated solutions:
"BA2 Archive Version Patcher.exe" -i "path\to\file\or\folder"
