Version 1.1.0
--- MINOR UPDATE ---
ADDED: New MCM option to enable novice lock-ups. You should only enable this if you are using a mod such as Ultimate Hacking, otherwise you may softlock yourself in quests if you do not have a high enough rank in the hacker perk.
ADDED: Added an ESPless option. Functions identically to the main file. Requires Papyrus Common Library, and is Last-Gen exclusive.

OVERVIEW Hacking now has stakes! Failing to hack a terminal will now up the security of that terminal by one tier.
Hacking in Fallout 4 is quite inconsequential and very easily cheesed. This mod gives hacking some tension and stakes, so you feel encouraged to take your time and make proper guesses. Terminals will only lock "up" if you have made a previous guess in that terminal and exited early or failed the hack. After you unlock the terminal, it will return to normal.
PROGRESSION Advanced Terminal -> Expert Terminal Expert Terminal -> Master Terminal Novice terminals are unaffected by default, as they are often essential for quest progression. However, there is an MCM setting to enable lockups for novice terminals, if you’re using a mod like Ultimate Hacking.
ESL-FLAGGED ESM | NO VANILLA EDITS | INSTALL AT ANY TIME | COMPATIBLE WITH EVERYTHING
BREAKDOWN You can enable/disable the mod in the MCM, and toggle the message that is displayed upon a security increase. This is compatible with Ultimate Hacking, the author suggests disabling the "Terminal Security Detection" setting in Ultimate Hacking if you are using both together. That's about it, have fun!
NOTES This mod has been tested on both versions and works on next-gen AND on last-gen. Ensure that you install the correct version of Garden of Eden Papyrus Script Extender for your game.
