About this mod

A simple and very lightweight rain texture replacer to make rain more visible. Recommended for people who prefer an enhanced vanilla look.

Permissions and credits
A bit bothered by the rain being barely visible, undermining that cozy feel you get on rainy days? Worried that the more advanced weather overhaul mods might change more than you bargained for? Not to worry, as this one will keep things simple.

This mod offers just one texture: that of rain. The texture was borrowed from the legendary True Storms mod by fadingsignal, and has been tweaked to the perfect pinnacle of my personal preference. I compared it with hundreds of photos and footage of actual rain, other mods and my own observations, to get it just right. Subtle, yet undeniably noticeable.

Installation:
Make sure mods are enabled first, as explained in the following link:
https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Fallout_4_Mod_Installation

Use your favorite mod manager, or manually drop the contents of the downloaded archive into your Fallout 4 folder. Do NOT overwrite the entire folder, but merge when asked instead. The end result should look something like this:

...\Fallout 4\Data\Textures\Effects\fxraindrops_d.dds

Uninstallation:
Use your favorite mod manager, or manually remove the file and optionally the empty folders that contained it (only if there's nothing else in them). Completely safe to add or remove anytime.

Requirements:
None.

Compatibility:
Very good and lenient, but unsure. Should work with most versions of the game, but haven't tested it with the Next-Gen Update. No idea how it interacts with an ENB either, and probably overwrites other mods that alter the rain texture, but very easy to remove if conflicts arise.

What this mod does:
It makes the rain more visible and noticeable, and more true to real life.

What this mod does not do:
It does NOT fix the "deadzone-areas" where rain just refuses to render at all, especially when viewed from certain angles. That's an issue with the game itself, and fixing or circumventing it is way beyond the scope of this mod. This glitch seems to occur mostly during transitional periods, when it's either slowly starting to rain, or stopping. The problem isn't as pronounced in the default game because rain is barely visible at all, but it happens just the same. This mod is meant as a vanilla texture replacer, nothing more. It's untested in combination with other mods. Using this mod in combination with mods that change weathers and/or increase rain particle count, change their opacity, or enlarge them, will most certainly underscore the glitch even more, as demonstrated in vinohn's video.

Doesn't edit any meshes, cells, image spaces, or weathers. It also doesn't turn raindrops into unicorns, just so you know.

Requests:
I do requests ... for now. Want the rain more or less noticeable, brighter, darker, thicker, thinner? Just ask. I will limit this to just texture edits and will not adjust models/meshes/filters/cells/references/weathers/image spaces, or anything else.

Special Thanks:

- Bethesda, of course. Everybody's got a love-hate relationship with Bethesda.
- Both vinohn and Crowzer, for featuring this mod in their videos on YouTube.
- Cecilnezuto, for providing some extra screenshots to show off the More Noticeable version of the mod.
- True Storms' creator fadingsignal, for letting me borrow its texture. Also, give fadingsignal's music a go! It rocks.
- aconvert.com, for allowing me to easily convert from and to the *.dds texture file format online.
- LunaPic and Online PNG Tools, for offering me an easy way to edit images online, without having to refresh my Photoshop license.
