About this mod

This mod is designed to improve the way rollingrock16's FRIK v0.68 and Better Scopes VR v0.9 work with VR Weapon Overhaul 5.1 - it just tweaks some of the default values in the FRIK.ini and BetterScopes.ini files in order to make the scopes work better out of the box and reduce the amount of motion smoothing applied whilst walking/running in game.

This mod is designed to improve the way FRIK v0.68 and Better Scopes VR v0.9 work with KOG85's VR Weapon Overhaul 5.1 - it just tweaks some of the default values in the FRIK.ini and BetterScopes.ini files in order to make the scopes work better out of the box and reduce the amount of motion smoothing applied whilst walking/running in game. You should let this mod overwrite the .ini files from FRIK and Better Scopes VR. It will only work with these exact versions of the mods installed - if you use different versions it will probably either do nothing or just break stuff.

These are the changes that are made, the default values are shown in brackets.

FRIK.ini

[Fallout4VRBody] Allows adjustment of the reticule position with the off-hand further away from the scope
ScopeAdjustDistance = 30.0 (15.0)

[SmoothMovementVR] This reduces the amount of motion smoothing when walking or running
SmoothAmount = 2 (5.0)
Damping = 0.2 (1.0)
SmoothAmountHorizontal = 2 (5.0)
DampingHorizontal = 0.2 (1.0)
StoppingMultiplier = 0.2 (0.5)
StoppingMultiplierHorizontal = 0.2 (0.6)

BetterScopes.ini

[BetterScopes] Increases zoom scale/speed,  reduces activation angle and scope adjustment movement
eyeOffset = 2.5 (2.3)
scopeZoomScale = 2.5 (2.0)
scopeZoomSpeed = 2.5 (0.8)
lookScopeDetectThreshold = 0.995 (0.98)
lookScopeDistanceThreshold = 30.0 (20.0)
retOffsetX = 0.0 (0.372727)
retOffsetZ = 0.0 (-0.149692)
retMoveInterval = 0.01 (0.1)

It isn't possible to have a setting which is universally accurate with all gun/scope combinations - the size and shape of a weapon as well as the position of the scope and how you hold it will determine exactly where the bullets will strike. So leaving both reticule offsets as 0.0 provides the most accurate out of the box settings across the board. In my testing the Tactical Assault Rifle and the Tactical Homemade Rifle with 8x Scopes are spot on with these default settings. Other weapon/scope combinations hit slightly up or down, left or right - but they are not that far out.  You can however easily fine-tune the position of the reticules to match where the bullets strike using the built in FRIK controls.

Before you start this process, you may want to open the VR game settings and switch Rotation from Smooth to None - this is because we will be using the right thumbstick to adjust the position of the reticule. Before you start the reticule adjustment, grip the weapon with both hands and bring the scope close enough to activate the zoom - you can now switch between any available zoom settings by pressing the X button on the left controller. This will cycle through 2.5x > 4x > 8x if they are available. When you are happy with the zoom setting let go of the weapon with your left hand.

To activate the reticule adjustment mode move your off hand close to the scope (but don't grip the weapon) whilst the scope is activated, then press and hold the left trigger - after one second the adjustment mode will activate, but keep the trigger held for now. You can now use the right thumbstick to gently nudge the crosshairs towards where the bullets are actually hitting - once you are hitting on target you can then release the left trigger to save the setting and you can switch the VR Rotation setting back to Smooth if you changed it.  You can reset the reticule back to the default settings at any point in the process by pressing the X button.

This setting will be applied to all scopes globally (not per save), so you will have to adjust them again if a new weapon is significantly different in shape and size. You are also able to adjust the position of the weapon in your hands and where the off-hand grips it - there is a full explanation/guide here: https://github.com/rollingrock/Fallout-4-VR-Body/wiki.
