The Wattz 3000 mkII is a continuation of the successful previous model, now featuring more advanced tech. It includes enhancements such as a Pip-Boy link for biometric locking and ammo management, an ammo counter, and intelligent sight subsystems, making it one of the first "smart gun" models. After noticing success of other Wattz laser products like Wattz 1000 pistol and Wattz 2000 rifle, the Wattz 3000 mkII model was contracted by Vault-Tec shortly before the war, but constant financing troubles led to the decision to release this laser platform to the civilian market. Due to its high cost before the war and technological complexity, few of these guns can be found in the Wasteland. You can find them in vendors' assortments after reaching level 30, and occasionally, the Brotherhood of Steel soldiers will carry them. There are also some unique variants, check images for a hint where to find them :)
Also you can check more high-res renders on my Artstation
Ammo counter will always show full magazine after reloading, so if you have less ammo in your inventory than gun holds, counter will show incorrect number. This is due to how behaviours work, and considering that it supposed to be late-game weapon, you should have plenty of ammo by this point, so I don't consider it a game-breaking bug.
Ammo counter light won`t work if you loaded a safe with this gun equipped. To fix it, simply go to third person and back, or reequip weapon. This is vanilla bug, and I can't do anything about it (also happens with Gauss Rifle)
