As smaller nations imploded under the endless grind of the Resource Wars, the superpowers of the globe grasped for more and more to protect their imperial positions on the world stage. America callously plundered even its own former allies for materiel and technical knowledge that could bolster its military-industrial complex, with "special asset procurement operations" running around the clock even as the European Commonwealth entered its death throes. Considered a top priority even over the most advanced minds and technology of the First World, the gunsmiths of the unassuming Baltic nation of Elbonia were quickly pressed into service filling out American armories with improvised and bastardized ballistic weapons; even in the post-apocalypse, many in the Commonwealth find themselves doing their best with the worst.
