No matter what timescale - It just works.
Meanwhile, the controller script updates the dials only once per real-time second. An even lower update rate would be possible - at the cost of diminished accuracy (it is very accurate).
But the continuous movement of the hands on the dials is driven by the engine, using some TranslateTo() magic.
