'Specially a 'Lush' one.
'Specially one that has a purpose.
Since it's W-I-P, some thoughts (ymmv):
- The crows are OK, but too prevalent & frequent... and not varied enough.
Up DownEast way (where Far Harbor is ostensibly located), crows have at least a dozen different call patterns.
Take a look maybe at some of the samples from the Macauley Library (e.g., https://macaulaylibrary.org/audio/177622)?
Would also be cool if there were an occasional flock-lifting-off ambient sound effect, as if your player has startled some unseen nearby murder of crows into flight.
- The wolves are a nice touch. Deer/stag sounds sure... how about a Moose, since it's Maine? Better: a Wounded Moose.
- There's something missing in the ambient background noise... needs a mix of more cricket + wood frogs/spring peepers.
- Gnat/minge swarms and pesky mosquitos. <-- They are the unofficial state bird.
1.The sound frequency was set higher for the video.
2.Mooses would be fitting but since there's no animal on the island I'll leave it out
But thanks, I never thought about those things. Crickets will be there.
Grew up summers up in the woods between Katahdin (Maine's largest mountain) and Acadia, so never can't think about those things.
The frogs/peepers are prolly more important than even the crickets.
And there's *always* a loon call on any pond/body of water bigger than a puddle, esp at night/dusk.
Edit:
Also: rad-mutated deer might well sound like enraged Moose? lol
Cheers m8.
