About this mod
Allows to craft vanilla Fallout 4 pipe guns from London crude guns at the chem station.
- Permissions and credits
Perk requirements: Gun Nut 1.
Recipes: (Chem station now has "PIPE GUNS" category)
Any crude SMG/rifle (aka crude blowback gun) + 1 steel + 2 wood + 2 screws = Short .32 Pipe Rifle.
Any crude (sniper) rifle (aka HAMR) + 1 steel + 2 wood + 2 screws = Short .303 bolt-action Pipe Rifle.
Any crude revolver + 1 steel + 2 screws = Short .45 Pipe Revolver.
Once you get these it's all vanilla Fallout 4 modifications from here at the weapon workbench.
Crude guns disappear completely with all modifications on them, so remove any that you want to keep beforehand.
Mod recommendations:
Scrap metal and makeshift welds - A Pipe Gun Retexture
Pipe Suppressor Replacer
The Attachment Pack (if you want more modifications, including the ones for the Double-Barreled Shotgun)
Q&A:
Q: Vanilla pipe guns suck, why would you even make this?
A: Big variety of modifications mostly. Plus with a retexture they're not that bad. Mechanically they're solid early game guns, and now you can choose between vanilla and London ones any time too.
Q: Are they in any leveled lists?
A: No, only crafting. Mod doesn't change anything in the London world itself, so it should be compatible with any updates too.
Q: So they're compatible with the "Attachment Pack" mod?
A: Yeah, since they're vanilla, however I also added a separate patch file that properly changes vanilla ammo descriptions to London ones.
Q: What about "Nina's Proper Pipe Guns Replacer" mod?
A: They're vanilla so it's okay, but then using Attachment Pack will cause problems, so I recommend a simple retexture instead.
Q: Crafting interface calls Crude Sniper Rifle just "Crude"...
A: That's the name of the base gun record from London resources, I didn't touch that. I can change it, but then looted guns may start getting names like Crude Rifle Rifle. So I think it's not worth it to change just for one mention in the crafting interface.
Q: Vanilla pipe guns use some ammo that is not present in London, so how is it here?
A: London devs just renamed .38 to .32, .308 to .303, et cetera, while using the same vanilla resources, so my job was just fixing text here and there, mechanically everything was working right away already.
Q: I could've made this mod much better.
A: Great, if you do, I'll use your version instead in my game. You can tinker with mine any time too.
Q: ..Hey, where's version 1.0?
A: I was a bit careless and made .32 the main ammo for all three guns, forgetting that the stats for the bolt-action and the revolver were tailored around different ammo mainly. I don't plan to make a rebalance patch, so 1.1 changed everything back to fully vanilla.
