This is my personal preset I made for F.E.A.R to boost immersion by adding martymcfly's wonderful IMMERSE MXAO, FGFX large scale perceptual obscurance irradiance, IMMERSE SMAA, and niceguy's GI.
Install is really easy! the mod is my preset ini file. When you install Reshade, it'll ask you if you want to pick a preset ini file. Choose this one from where ever you downloaded it to. Beyond that it'll ask you what API, it's using, and for F.E.A.R, it's DirectX9.
OPTIONAL:
However, there is an optional thing you can use called DXVK which converts DX9 to Vulkan rendering. This is vastly preferred for Reshade usage since it has better memory management and can handle demanding shaders soooo much better.
Extract the dxvk tar.gz file. Inside there you'll see x32 or x64. Go inside the x32 folder and copy the d3d9.dll into your F.E.A.R game folder where the exe file is. Then install Reshade and when it asks for the API this time, you choose "Vulkan" and of course pick my preset file too when it asks.
You can use the Home button to open the reshade menu and there's one option you need to make sure is checked It's on the add on tab and says "clear depth buffer before operations" make sure that's enabled
