I played with several free sets of shaders to try to fix the sometimes washed out colors, but always ran into the same issue - if I tweaked a sunny day on the grasslands to look rich and saturated, night scenes because either way too dark or way too saturated.
These shaders along with the preset solve this problem in the following ways:
- More contrast with minimal black crush: Regrade increases the contrast and saturation, but it's balanced by Exposure Fusion, which minimizes blowing out highlights and black crush
- If you can't beat them, join them: Rebirth has a lot of sunny, highly exposed scenes. Rather than trying to bring these into line by darkening and oversaturating them, I used a bloom shader to accentuate the brightness, which is then tempered by the aforementioned contrast
- Playable ray tracing: The RTGI shader is stunning and really grounds a lot of scenes, but out of the box, the shadows can be seen through fog and UI, creating a distracting effect. The Reveil shader does an acceptable job of minimizing this effect - not perfect, but playable in my experience.
- You can still see RTGI through the UI and fog, which can be distracting in some scenes, but I tried to minimize this as much as possible
- This can't fix the issues with eye adaptation or flat lighting in some interiors
- The performance hit is substantial (depending on the scene, it can take 25% out of your FPS, so you'll need a plenty of performance overhead. If this is too much, you can turn off the Launchpad and RTGI shaders, though you won't get the full effect. You can also try running at DLSS Performance (50% resolution scale) with the new Transformer Model DLSS to get back some frames - that's what I do)
