FFX YouTube playlist using this mod (everything except monster arena, dark aeons and Penance)
This playlist is the same exact version than the one available in here (latest) - specifically, FFX Extreme version 4.0
VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Install ffgriever's External File Loader and put this mod in:
Final Fantasy FFX&FFX-2 HD Remaster\data\mods\ffx_data
Final Fantasy FFX&FFX-2 HD Remaster\data\mods\ffx-2_data
Right click on your "mods" folder and select "Properties".
Here, click on "Advanced..." and enable "Compress contents to save disk space".
Select "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files", click OK and Apply.
If you do this, the mod size and loading screens will be reduced by 50%!!!
ABOUT VERSION DIFFERENCES:
- The maximum texture size allowed by the game is 8192x4096 or 4096x8192. For this reason, textures aren't upscaled beyond this limit, although this is only relevant for less than 1% of all files.
- Extreme version is a 3x resolution upscale. Most textures are 1024x1024 or less, so they become 3072x3072 or less.
- Medium version is a 2.5x resolution upscale. Most textures are 1024x1024 or less, so they become 2560x2560 or less.
- Small version is a 2x resolution upscale. Most textures are 1024x1024 or less, so they become 2048x2048 or less.
- All versions look significantly better than the unmodded game, even on 720p.
- I recommend Small for 720p, Medium for 1080p and Extreme for 1440p or higher.
- File reading speed is very important. You should have the game installed on your fastest storage drive (or install mods on a different drive and use a symlink folder, if you know how that is done)
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:
- The game only accepts one texture format of its own. This texture format is extremely inefficient to handle resolutions 1024x1024 or higher, resulting in huge file sizes. I didn't develop the game and I don't work for Square Enix, I have to make do with what we have. I can't change the texture format that the game uses to make a smaller mod, that's just impossible. I did my best within the game's own limitations. If you experience long loading waiting times, enable NTFS compression as explained above. If you still experience long loading waiting times, you need to install the game on a faster disk. That's your problem. It's not my responsibility that you have a slow computer.
- The README files are outdated and I can't be bothered to change them. I no longer update this mod or offer any kind of help or support. I'm not making mods or tools anymore. Just appreciate the fact that I re-uploaded over 100 GB for everyone to enjoy, instead of complaining or making demands like mad. Don't expect me to be around here. This mod is discontinued.
- Since this mod covers all non-video graphics, its performance impact isn't comparable to single-character or single-aeon mods. If your PC struggles to get 30 FPS without this mod, just forget it, you're wasting your time. If you're using CPU integrated graphics or your GPU has below 6 GB VRAM, you probably should also forget it, you want to prioritize the scarce 30 FPS to make the game be at least playable.
- If game performance is just bad but not unplayable, consider trying a smaller mod size. The trade-off is that you will lose quality, but even the small versions will be significantly better than unmodded.
- For best results, you probably want to combine this mod with manually made, hand-drawn, high quality textures from other modders/artists such as CATACHR1SM's work. Just make sure that you install my mod first, then on top of it you overwrite everything else that you want from someone else, for example, copy Catachr1sm's mods so that they REPLACE my files (the folder structure and file names are always the same, so you won't have any duplicates if your installation is correct)
