How to install:

Every player must install the mod

  • Download and install the loader BepInExPack_ForTheKing
  • Place FTKRandomizer.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\For The King\BepInEx\plugins (or your folder)
  • Done!

The project is fully open source on GitHub !

Main features:

1. Randomized Initial Character Stats
  • Each character's base stats are slightly altered at the start of the game.
  • Two stats are guaranteed to have positive modifiers, two will be negative, and the final stat is fully random.

2. Randomized Shop Items
  • Each shop will have more options with an extra randomized inventory (important and base items aren't altered, like beards or pipes)

3. Randomized Shop Item Costs (Every Round, Not Turn)
  • Item prices fluctuate each round, making resource management more dynamic.
  • The economy becomes dynamic, making it crucial to decide whether to buy now or risk waiting for a price drop.
4. Randomized Item Skill Type
  • Items that require a specific skill check (e.g., Strength, Intelligence) will now have their skill type randomized (vanilla skills is possible)
  • Players must adjust their strategy based on available items rather than relying on pre-determined builds

5. Randomized Weapon Roll Amount
  • The number of rolls required for weapon attacks is randomized from 1-5.
6. Weapon Balancing Adjustments
  • To compensate for potential imbalances caused by randomization, a slight damage buff has been applied to weapons utilizing the following stats:
  • Awareness
  • Toughness
  • Luck (receives additional extra damage due to its lower combat relevance, making luck --> high-risk high reward)
  • Vitality
  • Quickness
7. Randomized Extra Loot from Enemy Fights
  • The loot gained after battles is randomized and should scale with level
  • Some encounters may yield better rewards, while others might be less generous.
  • Note: Important items such as quest and lore are not affected

Potential bugs:

I tried my best ensuring every player is properly synced and I might have missed a few spots, please report it here or on github (or if you are feeling adventurous make a PR on github).

Compatibility:
I have not played with other mods installed, therefore I can not say whether or not it works with other mods. I've built the mod from the original vanilla experience, so it still feels FTK with extra spice on it.
