I used to get an issue where my FPS will go down to a fraction of what it normally is and will stay like that until I restart the game. This mod seems to fix that issue as well.
Instructions:
Copy the media folder from the mod to the game's Install Location (where the media folder is located). Make sure to select "Replace the File in Destination"
To Enable "Performance Mode":
Go to the Basic Video Settings in the game. Find the Dynamic Render Quality option and change this to VideoOptions:<unknown> (this option will appear before the Low option, see the first image for what this looks like)
To Disable "Performance Mode":
Simply change the Dynamic Render Quality setting to anything else. No need to uninstall the mod. It's that simple!

Edit: I recently discovered that the increased grass density was causing performance issues on specific areas of specific tracks. This has been resolved in v1.3
