About this video
The horse has limited range of speeds.
- Using mouse and keyboard you can get a slow "walk" (by setting a walk modifier key in settings), then a "trot" (this is almost exactly the same speed as the "jog" speed on foot, tested here), then finally a full on "gallop when" using the sprint key 'Shift'.
- With a controller you can moderate the speed between the "walk" and "trot" speeds, but that's it.
What I would like is a something like a "canter", something between the fastest "walk" speed and the "gallop" speed.
- Possibly activated with a single tap of the "gallop/sprint" key ('Shift" on M&KB, "click left stick" on controller) as is already is to "gallop" but does the "canter" speed first, then an other press/click (or a longer hold and release) activates the full gallop. Either that or another key/button that doesn't do anything when on horseback. This method would likely be necessary to work on M&KB.
- Alternative activation method, ideally for a controller. Changing the stick range to include the new "canter" speed at the full range of the stick and the "walk" speed at the minimal range before movement is input at all. I wonder if this would be easier since you can already do that by default with the slow to fast walk states.
I'm not a programmer in any sense of the word, but I could imagine this being a bit difficult and requiring several game design aspects to implement, plus whether some of those files are even accessible or modifiable yet, if ever.
Thank you for any consideration.
