About this mod

An alternative to Midnight's excellent rework. This one aims to be more like vanilla, just balanced. Underperforming skills and chars brought up. Generally full use of a characters kit is encouraged.

Permissions and credits
Relink has been plagued by balance issues. Top performers could do up to three times that of the lowest ones, all by pressing a single button over and over. This attempts to redress the balance and make characters perform similar to eachother, while also encouraging use of all their skills and a variety of combos.

Who is this for?
Do you want a vanilla-like experience, but have it be balanced? Then this is for you. It won't do a whole lot before you reach the later difficulties, but also will largely not hurt. The only major difference you might notice in the low level gameplay is that heals are more useful and that SBAs hit harder, up to you if you consider that worth using (I do!). I personally particularly enjoy the flexibility of being able to freely swap characters, without having to worry about meta, as well as utilizing characters full kits, instead of just spamming their one good move.


Included:
  • A full character rebalance (works as a standalone)
  • A no gambling patch, intended for those who don't like the random chance involved in Narmaya, Io, Tweyen and Ferry.
  • 1.5-4x hp versions of Zero, for those seeking to have fun in a challenging fight.

Installation Instructions in case you haven't used reloaded before. Otherwise simply download the mod, unpack in your reloaded mod folder and enjoy.

Load Order:
  • Character Rebalance
  • No Gambling Patch (No Potion Hoarder), if desired
  • Zero 1.5-4x hp
  • No Gambling Patch (Potion Hoarder), only use this if you have both the no gambling patch and one of the zeros active!

Character DPS is meant to be balanced around being a bit below vanilla Narmaya. Narmaya was usually considered the highest performing yet not overpowered char. In general underperforming characters and skills or combos were buffed, while overperforming ones (notably Vase Combo B spam, Sandalphons Y spam and Charlotta's lunge spam), were taken down to bring them in line. In general it's encouraged to use a characters whole kit now.

This mod is primarily intended for later game, maniac and onward. Balance beforehand is usually considered alright.

SBAs now hit appropriately hard! Especially considering supplemental damage doesn't work on them.

Summary of each character (check the changelog for a full list of each change):
  • Djeeta: Focus on skills, higher cool down reduction per finisher and heavy hitting Decimate and Reginleiv.
  • Gran: Increased arts duration and overall higher damage caps. (Their char sigils are now worth it!)
  • Katalina: EL stays as the hard to cap big nuke, while the rest of the kit contributes more. Support skills now support chaining into pactstrike!
  • Rackam: Actually fires live ammo now instead of resorting to blanks. Fully charged bulls eye now chunks a lot, as do all the skills.
  • Io: Bigger gravity well, so the damage matches the visual. Fire is now less reliant on being in melee for damage. Longer warpath to help it stay up during link time.
  • Eugen:  Sniper Bullets now register all their hits more reliably on small targets. Buffed underperforming skills (Sumrak and Intercept).
  • Rosetta: General damage buffs, especially to Spiral Rose and Iron Maiden. Lost Love hits like a truck! Jumpslam during iron maiden for a little extra damage. Profusion buffed, letting you be a much better support too.
  • Ferry: Heavy buffs toward onslaught with 3 pets out! Jumpslam is still viable, as is doing charged Xs.
  • Lancelot: Now actually benefits from being in ice! Big buff to his ice enhanced autos and especially ice enhanced combo finisher. Recommended to use the combo finisher before using skills.
  • Vane: Beatdown is now viable, especially the final hit does a big oompf. Combo C buffed so that it's the damage option, while Combo B remains great for it's big cooldown reduction via the char sigil. Combo Finisher of skills does a good chunk. Rift divider no longer hits like a wet noodle!
  • Percival: Buffed his weaker skills (Macht, Royal Authority and Zerreisen), also made the combo finisher more important.
  • Siegfried: Reduced the importance of the warpath so that you can run him without it without nuking your damage! L'Ombre chains into Perfect Execution, Draconic release is now permanent uptime if you don't mess up.
  • Charlotta: Gone is the combo finisher spam! It's still strong, but you're now encouraged to use her full kit. Optional Charlotta restored for those who preferred her before the warpath!
  • Yodarha: Less reliant on Warpath, autos actually hit rather than tickle, Awakening now gives +1 seal. Empty mist isn't utterly useless!
  • Narmaya: Warpath now lasts longer to help with Link Time, also less of an SBA penalty. Power distribution changed to reward fully charged setsuna and transient while lessen the importance of Kyogagetsu spam.
  • Ghandagoza: Lessened reliance on just pure raging fist, made the combo actually worth doing instead of just dodge cancelling the whole affair. Skills buffed.
  • Zeta: Really rewards air time and skills now, some quality of life with counter giving you stout heart and debuff immunity to maybe survive a hit. Realm now gives 5s of invulnerability so you can finish a combo!
  • Vas: Combo C is now viable, combo finisher of skills is hugely recommended. All skills are now usable. Nether-wrath scales properly with hits taken, at 5+ hits, it can hit the universal damage cap of 10m!
  • Cagliostro: Collapse is now worthwhile! Saws and Hammers are now viable alternatives for damage, while spear spam is still the best for SBA.
  • Id: Now he's no more just Godmight finisher spam! Especially fourfold hits like a truck now.
  • Sandalphon: No more Y spam! The rest of the kit bumped up, especially human form to reward you doing the perfect combos and not just hold there charging y.
  • Seofon: Uncursed the gauge. Warpath now lasts twice as long.
  • Tweyen: Archer girl now actually shoots arrows instead of just shining pretty lights at the enemy. Her arrows follow targets now too, silly girl forgetting she can do that. Depravity now hits hard even against bosses immune to the dot.

Incompatabilities:
This mod's sigil changes will be incompatible with any other mod that edits sigils (skill_status.tbl), the mod lower down in the list will overwrite the ones above. The weapon changes will be incompatible with mods that edit weapon tables (visual mods should be fine).
The Zero mods additionally alter limit_bonus_param.tbl (masteries) and enemy_status.tbl (enemy hp and attack).
It will likely have some conflict with mods that edit character damage caps, cooldowns or combos.
Any mod that doesn't affect those things, like outfit mods, will be perfectly fine.
