What is this mod?

This is a very simple texture replacement mod that restores the original design of the character Phil Cassidy's shirt to the design that appeared in the original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. In the recently-released Definitive Edition the design has been replaced with a generic skull symbol. The intention behind the release of this mod is to honour the original vision of the game and, with that, its characters' designs. It will change both Phil Cassidy's character model in-game and also within cutscenes (excluding the bank heist mission where Phil Cassidy is in another outfit).

How do I install/uninstall this mod?

Installation is fairly simple. Extract the provided .zip file to any folder on your Windows computer (for example, your Downloads folder), then copy-and-paste the 'Gameface' folder to the folder where 'Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Definitive Edition' is installed, pasting it into the main folder. The mod will now be installed as the file "50-VCPhilFixed.pak" within a folder called "~mods". No files are overwritten as part of this process and no tools are required to install the mod.

If you would like to uninstall the mod, simply go to the "~mods" folder (within <Your GTA VC DE Game Directory>/Gameface/Content/Paks) and delete "50-VCPhilFixed.pak". Start the game as normal and you should see that it has returned to the skull design.

Testing

If you'd like to see how the mod looks right away without having to reach the missions where Phil Cassidy first appears, you can type in the PC cheat code 'ONEARMEDBANDIT' to switch your character model from Tommy Vercetti to Phil Cassidy. It is advised that you reload the game after to avoid the cheat code disabling achievements.

Disclaimer

The design provided as part of this mod is not a 1:1 replica of the original design, but rather an attempt to recreate it at roughly the same resolution as the newer character models present within the Definitive Edition version of the game. Some aspects from the original design weren't totally clear due to the far lower resolution of character model textures in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, so I have used my best judgement to recreate it to at least resemble the original design.
