Changelogs
Version UPDATE-7
- Gamma changes for every weather, should result in a little more ''pop'' in the image, so bright areas should be a little eye catching and contrasted compared to dark.
- Ambient Occlusion reworked completely in order to eliminate overly bright objects compared to the rest of the scene. Overall will make the image a tiny bit darker.
- Recolored the shadows especially in sunny, extra sunny and sunny windy weathers to have a subtle dark blue shade instead of the warm colors they had until now. Should result in more natural looking shadowy areas in general.
- Fixed some issues where characters would be overly dark in some extreme weathers, now Niko's face shouldnt be pitch black ever (things are still dark enough).
- Due to the changes above nights overall became a tiny bit darker overall, but not by much.
- Fixed an issue with cloudy weather 5am being brighter than sunny weathers
- Drizzle weather shouldnt be overly green anymore during the day
- Did another bloom pass to make sure it fits to the changes.
Version UPDATE-6
Atmosphere update - every weather preset received some extra personality via a little touch of color (used sparingly). Adjusted some clouds for better visibility in sunny, extra sunny and sunny windy weathers. Rebalanced reflections, adjusted directional lightning for all weathers where the sun is not supposed to be out, re-adjusted bloom and ambient occlusion to fit these changes. Lightning and rainy weathers are now somewhat (not by much) darker.
Version UPDATE-5
Cloud update - clouds should blend better into the sky, especially during weather transitions, overall made clouds and horizons nicer and less distracting to look at.
Version UPDATE-4
UPDATE 4 - Further polished atmospheric lighting/corrected oversaturated/bright areas, minor cloud adjustments, added vanilla death screen option, minor sky saturation tweaks
Version UPDATE-3
Large update to atmospheric lightning and fog effects. Sky lightning reworked especially during morning/evening hours. Rim lightning rebalanced at all times, cloud and sky saturation/brightness adjusted where needed.
Version Solitude2.0-UPDATE1
UPDATE 1 - rebalanced directional lightning power across all weathers, resulting in more natural brightness at all times. - various smaller tweaks to ambient light colors
Version 2.0
A complete remake of the mod, now released. enjoy.
Version 1.5.3
-Fixed vehicle exhaust smoke (and other smoke sources such as industrial pipes, cigarette smoke) not diplaying correctly. This was an oversight before. Now it correctly draws the smoke circles on screen according to the ''outside temperature".
Version 1.5.2
- Fixed overly bright distant lights when using Project 2DFX on the Complete Edition version of the game (patch 1.2.0.43 or above)
- Players who do not wish to use Project 2DFX for some reason now have a separate option to choose from once you download the main mod.
- Project 2DFX configuration added, use the appropriate version depending on what version of the game you prefer using.
Version 1.5.1
- Fixed intro cutscene blurriness
- Adjusted sun sizes for multiple weathers, mainly midday to make them look better
- Horizon colors are slightly less intensive now at 5am and 9pm during sunny weathers
- Fixed broken coronas in some places
- Rebalanced distant corona size/brightness for people not using Project2dFX (still recommended to use)
- Removed rain texture as FF 3.0.0 includes it now and that has additional functionality (easter egg)
- Removed water texture as it was not necessary.
- Extra sunny 9am is now less red.
- some other minor weather changes
- readme file is now much more detailed
Version 1.5
1.5 Update is out NOW
- BIG update, touched almost all aspects of the timecyc
- All weathers and all times of day brightness rebalanced. The timecyc is a lot brighter now in places. I still kept dark nights, but they are somewhat brighter now where approppriate.
- Colors have been corrected, more varied colors can be seen at different times of day
- Reflections are back on the menu and are better than ever. Made sure to carefully balanced reflections and not do overdo them. Some reflection artifacts/glossy sand and dirt can be still expected to pop up here and there.
- Coronas have been rebalanced as well.
-At least 80% of the timecyc has been touched upon check out the results ingame.
- New picture comparisons uploaded as media so you can judge the changes yourself.
Version 1.3
Timecycle changes:
- Updated clouds across all weathers - should be much more subtle and less distractive now, more immerse
- Reduced global reflection multiplier where appropriate (mostly rainy weather)
- Slight changes to some of the blue sky colors reducing saturation where needed
- Rim lighting has been reduced for peds where it was too much before.
Visualsettings changes - inspired by MagicAL over on GTAF:
- Rain is now slightly easier to see
- LOD distance for both cars and peds have been raised
- Taxi top light intensity lowered
- Somewhat reduced traffic light intensity and falloff - more realistic this way
- Tiny bit reduced car tail light falloff
- Emergency vehicle siren lights are more realistic now
Version 1.2.5
Fixed a lot of occurrences where the clouds were over brightened and blown out if the player looked towards the horizon.
Version 1.2
Boosted global reflections across the board by an average of 50%. Old version is still up in case you prefer toned back reflections.
Version 1.1
Solitude 1.1
- Updated some of the clouds to be a bit more seamless across cloudy, rain, drizzle, foggy and lighting weathers.
- Corrected and toned down sun brightness a tiny bit across several weathers to be a little more forgiving on the eyes when you are not directly looking at the sun (it was overly bright due to the previous update boosting skylighting brightness)
-When updating it's enough to replace timecyc.dat with the new version, other files in the mod remain the same.
Version 1.051
Corrected sky brightness across several times and weathers (generally made them a bit brighter - only affects day). Only timecyc.dat changed, enough to replace that.+corrected DOF in 1.05
Version 1.05
Corrected sky brightness across several times and weathers (generally made them a bit brighter - only affects day). Only timecyc.dat changed, enough to replace that.
Completely rebuilt, from the ground up using ACES tonemapping techniques. It's not just a simple update. Adds realistic elements, but strives to keep the general feel and atmosphere of GTAIV.
Over 250 hours of graphical tinkering across several months. I am proud to present to you my vision of Liberty City, like you have never seen before.
Every single value completely remade, almost nothing reused from the previous versions.
The city is always beautiful...
Even when the weather is dreadful...
Experience everything for the first time, again.
