About this mod

If you're like me, overwhelmed by all the mods available, dislike the way how some remaster mods may break the original feel of the game, and also don't know what mods you need, but just want to play a proper, original game, then this modpack is for you.

With this AIO modpack, you can get a better experience than with the defintive edition. Yes, the graphics are worse, but the quality of the product is better and more consistent.

This modpack includes the latest mods as of 14.nov.2024

Make sure you have a CLEAN install of the 1.0 version of the game. If it's any newer, I believe you can downgrade it. Don't know if this works with steam/rgl or any other version, but it was tested only with the 1.0 PC disc version.

After that's checked, copy all the files out of the unzipped folder into the game's directory.
Now, for some reason for me the intro and loading screen isn't locked to 30fps anymore making it run way too quick, so I recommend locking the game's FPS to 30 from Nvidia Control Panel for best compatibility and stability. That's basically it, you can now properly play the game in its intended way from the beginning to the end either with a controller or keyboard+mouse (both work without manual switching). Though, if you play with a Dualshock/Dualsense, you may need to get a program called: DS4Windows. Also if the Aspect Ratio in the graphics settings is not set to AUTO, then set it to that.

Game works well even in 2160p, effects should not be broken. The SkyGFX's PS2's broken grain/night vision/heat vision was tuned back to PC version; stensil shadows are disabled because the default shadows give more depth and look less buggy; and the gamma was adjusted because PC version seems washed out. You should be seeing the same contrast as in the image below - CJ's pants should look very dark blue, but not completely black, and not light blue either.

If you dislike the main menu of PS2, remove the file: SkyUI.asi . The mod also breaks the fading animation between images in the loading screen. But I don't consider that as a major issue, so I left it.

And if you want the game to have different controller button prompts for Sony controllers, instead of the included PS2's dualshock 2 (which I felt matched the artstyle better), then get some mod like this. This is for the Dualsense controller. https://gtaforums.com/topic/983072-iiivcsa-ginput-dualsense-prompts/

Also, if your game looks oversharpened, that's not the modpack's fault. If you have an NVIDIA GPU, you can fix it with https://github.com/neatchee/nvidiaProfileInspectorForkAIO/releases/tag/2.4.2.3 . Find: 3 - Antialiasing, turn off: Sharpening Filter, then press: Apply Changes at the top. For some reason it's on by default and makes the game look ugly.

And DON'T set the game over 30fps. It's limited by default. Otherwise you're breaking the physics. I didn't include Framerate Vigilante, because it doesn't fix all the bugs.

INCULDED:
-1.0 no-cd .exe
-SilentPatch
-Silent's Asi Loader
-Modloader
-SkyGfx (original, not extended)
-SkyUI
-Proper Fixes
-GInput - added from another mod Dualshock 2 icons instead of Dualshock 3. Input changed as well, to accelerate with a car, you press R2 - from the description of the mod, the controls are now similar to GTA IV. This has compatibility with most controllers and I'm sure older controllers are used less each day. But you can switch it back by looking at the default config. I believe there were only 2 same settings to change.
-III VC SA Limit Adjuster
-WidescreenFix
-ImprovedStreaming
