About this mod
Think the game is too easy? Now you can tweak the game to be as hard or easy as you want it!
- Permissions and credits
SUMMARY:
The idea here is to make the player (and party if you chose the option) much more vulnerable than they are originally. Enemies near your level and higher will deal more damage and actually force you to use those health potions you've been holding onto for so long. Hell, you may even start using buffs and debuffs for the first time! You have complete control over how you tweak the game, I simply provide suggestions based on my own balancing ideas.
--- This is a cheat engine table that is used to cheat the game but I decided to use it for the opposite effect.. TO MAKE IT HARDER!
I found dl748's cheat table here so please show them some support! This mod page is me simply sharing their work. ---
HOW TO USE FOR VOL 1 + MY SUGGESTIONS:
- Turn on the game, boot up Vol 1 then start Cheat Engine and use "open process" on .hack GU.
- Vol 1 is the easiest to tweak for a harder experience.. I recommend for you to go under "Vol1 Script -> Characters -> Haseo" and simply change Haseo's "P-DEF" and "M-DEF" values to either 30 [Normal Difficulty] or 15 [Hard] or 1 [Very Hard]. You just apply this tweak one time per play session or simply save the Cheat Engine values.
- This way you keep your level, health and attack power but are just more vulnerable to enemy attacks. (MAKE SURE the boxes of these "DEF" options are checked so they don't increase when you level up, uncheck if game crashes). *Warning: PvP is a ***** with this mod enabled. Go straight for the leader and block like hell.
- (Optional) Do the same for your party members as well for more challenge (they only appear under "characters" if in your party)
HOW TO USE FOR VOL 2, 3 and 4 + MY SUGGESTIONS:
- Turn on the game, boot up Vol 2/3/4 then start Cheat Engine and use "open process" on .hack GU.
- Try the exact same trick as for Vol 1 first. If it doesn't work THEN try this one. What I recommend is just one time lowering Haseo's level by 5 [Normal Difficulty] or 10 [Hard] or 15 [Very Hard] levels underneath your next available story mission and to continue playing the game from there (I explain below). The option to edit character levels is under "Vol2/3/4 Script -> Characters -> Haseo".
- For example, let's say Haseo is level 60 and the next story mission is level 45. So taking Haseo and making him level 35 (45 mission level - 10) would be the equivalent of this mod's [Hard Difficulty]. From here you just continue playing the game without further tweaks unless you overlevel again. I recommend Hard or Very Hard because you will stay underleveled way longer compared to Normal.
- (Optional) Do the same for your party members as well for more challenge (they only appear under "characters" if in your party).
