About this mod

"Fight against increasingly difficult odds. Ends after 1 set + a bonus round."
This is a firefight version of Halo 3's multiplayer map, Avalanche. Similiar to ODST/Reach's firefight modes, enemies will drop in via Phantom, with each wave being slightly more difficult than the last. The game ends after 3 waves + a 2 minute bonus round. Enjoy!

This mod contains:

+Over 3500 Lines of scripting
+Brutes, grunts, jackals, & hunters, that all come in via Phantom. This means no sloppy looking enemy spawns that happen directly in front of you!
+Pelican weapon drops
+Custom UI subtitles (because AFAIK custom audio is currently impossible ATM)
+Music taken straight from 3's soundtrack/files that comes in at the beginning & final wave of each round. (If you dislike it, don't worry, the music doesn't stay around past it's wave.)



Gameplay Changes:

+Increased the AR's ammo capacity to 60 rounds, with 600 in reserve.
+Increased the BR's reserve ammo capacity to 198.
+Increased the Shotgun's range, reloaded ammo, damage, & projectile count by a bit. Max reserve ammo has also been increased to 60.
+Increased the SMG's ammo count to 300 when single-wielded.
+Increased the Silenced SMG's ammo count to 480, along with its accuracy.
+Increased the Silenced Pistols reserve ammo to 60.
+Increased the Sniper Rifle's reserve ammo from 20 to 40.
+You now have 10 shots with the Spartan Laser rather than 5.
+Grenade count for all grenades increased to 4.
+Improved player airborne acceleration to make airborne control a bit better.
+Increased the map's gravity lift's push force to compensate for the above change.
+Proper enemy AI for the Brute Plasma Rifle has been added.
+Hunters have more health, can fire at a longer range, & take slightly decreased damage from bullet & plasma weapons.
+Both Brute Chieftains can no longer be insta-killed with an assassination, have more health+shield strength, can have varied equipment, & now use + drop Firebombs rather than Spike Grenades.


How To Install:

1. Go to your Halo 3 maps folder, it should be located at Steam\steamapps\common\Halo The Master Chief Collection\halo3\maps
2. Make a backup of your sidewinder.map file
3. Drag and drop the sidewinder.map file you downloaded into the folder, & click yes when prompted to replace it.
4. Launch MCC in modded mode.
5. Go to Multiplayer -> Custom Multiplayer -> Halo 3
6. Select Slayer/Team Slayer, & switch to the green team (Not required, but recommended)
7. Start the map


Issues:

-The weapon capsules & their contents dropped off by the pelican will dissappear when they get cleaned up by garbage collection, this appears to be an MCC issue that I cannot fix currently.
-The active camo equipment doesn't work at all, this is because of the modified player bipeds I used in this map.
-Very minor one, but the pelican will be hostile to you if you're not on the green team, this doesn't affect the weapon drop, though.
-Chieftains with Plasma Turrets immediately drop their turret when placed in a Phantom passenger seat. As a work-around, Turret Chieftains will drop into the map from the cliffs near the rightmost human turret, so watch out for them.
-The BR starts with 180 ammo rather than 198. This appears to be another MCC issue, because it works just fine in Sapien/Guerilla.
-The central area of the map is blocked off because it causes issues with the AI's pathfinding.



FAQ:

Q: Why does my armor not appear on this map?
A: This is because the map uses a 'lite' version of the spartan & elite bipeds. H3EK doesn't compress the new armors added by 343 properly, & this causes the map file size to increase from 425 MB to over 1.2 GB in size. It's just to reduce filesize, nothing more.

Q: Are there any flood on this map?
A: No, but that may not be the case for a future map...
