Reduces the number of spiders that you'll encounter in the game - they spawn as Dark Wizards and Dark Wolves instead.

The 04 May 2023 official game patch introduced an "Arachnophobia Mode" option (under "Accessibility" in the game options). Feel free to give it a try, but I think these "less frightening variants" are still super creepy and won't help anyone who actually suffers from arachnophobia.
If you're running an old version of the game (from before 04 May 2023) the standard version of this mod will crash your game. You need a special version. Install the "FebVersion" which you will find in the "Miscellaneous Files" section on the FILES tab.
Introduction
Let's face it, spiders are everywhere in Hogwarts Legacy! I don't usually have a problem with spiders but these ones are as creepy as hell and not actually that much fun to fight. So this is a simple mod to reduce the number of spiders (and spider "eggsacs"... ew!) in the game. You'll still encounter spiders in spider nests, and on quests*, but not in any of the 84 locations where spiders usually spawn "in the wild".
In version 1.0.0a of this mod, spiders would simply no longer spawn in the wild.
In version 2.0.0 they spawn as Dark Wizards instead, which is a much better solution. Spider eggsacs spawn as Dark Wolves.
*If you want to get rid of the remaining spiders that my mod can't deal with, check out the two arachnophobia mods:
This mod should install automatically via the "Vortex" or "Mod Manager Download" buttons.
Alternatively (or if Vortex fails) do a manual download then extract the PAK file from the ZIP file and put it in:
Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\
If the ~mods directory doesn't exist, create it.
How to Un-Install
If you installed using Vortex, hit the "Remove" button on the mod inside Vortex... BUT afterwards ALSO check the folder "Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\" to make sure there are no folders called something like "XXX-FewerSpiders_v?_?_?" (where XXX is a three-letter prefix which depends on how many mods you have installed). If such a folder exists, delete it. Vortex should have deleted it but sometimes doesn't. If that folder is still there, the mod is still installed.
If you installed manually, just delete the FewerSpiders PAK file from the "Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\" folder.
Conflicts
This mod alters and replaces the game's PhoenixShipData.sqlite SQL database file.
If you have other mods that modify the game's SQL data use the Mod Merger program and follow the instructions therein on how to a) intelligently merge the changes and b) install the resultant merged PAK file. As an aside, if you want to know what changes my mod makes to the SQL database, just load my mod into Mod Merger and you'll see the list. 😇

- No spiders which replaces all spiders (including pictures on signs and stuff) with angry burgers. No, really! 😂
