Introduction
Once you get used to the combat system in Hogwarts Legacy it can become a little too easy to defeat your enemies. If you add in potions, deadly plants and gear perks... you become quite significantly overpowered compared to your foes. There are several mods out there that seek to address this by making enemies more aggressive or giving them more health. This mod takes the simpler approach of merely increasing the number of enemy NPC's, though you could merge this mod with one of my "Tougher Enemies" mods if you want to make things really interesting! 😎
In this mod I have increased the number of enemy NPC's by 2 on average, but it can actually vary from 1X to 3X. (In the game you often encounter the exact same number of enemies whenever you pass through a certain location. I've changed that to add a little variety.)
Unfortunately this mod will only affect enemies that spawn "in the wild". The settings for enemies in bandit camps and spider nests are hidden inside the game and can't be changed very easily. I might have a go at doing that eventually, but I'd have to learn all about Blueprints and the Unreal Engine which looks quite time-consuming. If anyone would like to tell me roughly how to do it I'd be happy to give it a shot!
Installation
This mod should install automatically via the "Vortex" or "Mod Manager Download" buttons.
Alternatively (or if Vortex fails) do a manual download then extract the PAK file from the ZIP file and put it in:
Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\
If the ~mods directory doesn't exist, create it.
How to Un-Install
If you installed using Vortex, hit the "Remove" button on the mod inside Vortex... BUT afterwards ALSO check the folder "Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\" to make sure there are no folders called something like "XXX-MoreEnemies2X_v?_?_?" (where XXX is a three-letter prefix which depends on how many mods you have installed). If such a folder exists, delete it. Vortex should have deleted it but sometimes doesn't. If that folder is still there, the mod is still installed.
If you installed manually, just delete the MoreEnemies2X PAK file from the "Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\" folder.
Conflicts and Mergers
This mod alters and replaces the game's PhoenixShipData.sqlite SQL database file.
If you have other mods that modify the game's SQL data [like my Fewer Spiders or Tougher Enemies mods], use the Mod Merger program and follow the instructions therein on how to a) intelligently merge the changes and b) install the resultant merged PAK file. As an aside, if you want to know what changes my mod makes to the SQL database, just load my mod into Mod Merger and you'll see the list. 😇
