About this video

Hi community. I'm happy to share some sounds I've collected over the decades that hopefully a cleverer person than me, perhaps from the DOOM Eternal community, is able to unpack/repack the MOTOR Engine sound files and get a couple more iconic Indy sounds into the game. I love how many are included in the vanilla product, but I imagine there are others like me who really miss that glorious Ben Burtt Winchester Rifle gun sound. Feel free to contact me on the nexus and I can supply you with most any sounds you could need.

Hey CaptainJack1, I read on the reshax thread that you now know how to do sound mods for Great Circle.
How exciting! Let me know if you need any help with improving the sounds.

Hi The1Sakishiro! Thank you for the kind offfer. Yes I had success after much trial and error! I've posted the first version of the mod last night if you'd like to check it out. I actually plan to add in variants of the Indy gun for peoples tastes, as well as doing the enemy guns and some of the explosions, might even see if I can sneak a few extra Wilhelm screams in too :)

Awesome! Can't wait to hear how the "Revolver (Raiders) Alt 2" is going to sound like!

Hey nice work collecting those sounds! I don't know if you're interested in implementing the original punching sounds, but some time ago I came across these, which I'm pretty sure are the original recordings Ben Burtt made. I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to modding, so I figured you'd find a better use for it. If for whatever reason the sounds cut off early, then you might need to play them on a program that can read raw file like Audacity.

Hello, and thank you so much for the link to these! They are wonderful, and without question the cleanest version of these sounds that I've heard, with variants of them kicking around the net for a while. At this stage I haven't discovered the hit and body blow sounds in the game files to modify, mainly as I've been focused on the guns and things, but I'll definitely keep it in mind. Thanks again.

“Revolver (Raiders) Alt 2” sounds the most movie accurate, and would be so awesome to have on Indy’s revolver in the game. A shame that the devs overlooked this.

It is a little bit of a shame it was overlooked, but at the same time I'm very happy that the Raiders punch sounds (or a very accurate analogue) were included for the first time in an Indy game - so the trade off is more than okay with me, especially as melee combat is the focus here. With that said, I'd sure love to get some of my extensive sound fx collection in the game :) Just need to figure out these .bnk and .pack files, and my research has brought little insight so far.

That’s great man! Really looking forward to a second playthrough with the “Revolver (Raiders) Alt 2” sound!
Please keep on posting on your further updates. And let me know if you want me to improve the sound quality of the sounds. I’m pretty knowledgeable with doing that. Have done it on a mod project of mine for RoboCop: Rogue City, which is also available here on nexusmods.

Small update, partial progress though still not really close to the solutions that I'm after - I managed to extract some sound files from the .bnk and .pack files using the tools and tutorials found below. And this is just unpacking at this stage, not repacking.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Doom/comments/fn1ra7/guide_extracting_all_the_music_from_doom_eternal/

The only difference I made while following the guide above was renaming the filetype ".pack" file to ".pck" when placing it in the extraction folder. So far the only ones I tested that worked were for ripping the mus, music, and diegetic_music files, converting them to ogg file format worked flawlessly which is really cool. Unfortunately, trying other sounds with this method such as relicpistol01 or relicrevo01 resulted in error "Parse error: expected 0x42 fmt if vorb missing" and appear to be encrypted in a different way. Hopefully a hero who knows more about this will know what to do; in the meantime perhaps this can get the ball rolling.

If you just want to extract them with meida Id is easy. Just use the quickbms script from here https://reshax.com/topic/1334-pc-2024-indiana-jones-and-the-great-circle-wwise-pack-archives/#comment-6797. But whe it comes to repack, I dont know much.

Thanks WangPeng222. Yeah I stumbled upon that thread last night, extremely happy to see clever folks are working on it. That quickbms script worked perfectly for the files in question (revolver specifically) so that is a huge step forward! But yes, I'm not sure how to repack any of the wems I've modified at this stage. Nevertheless, this is an exciting development and I'll follow that thread closely :)

Great sounds, hoping official sounds can be implemented one day!
