Installation: Unzip into your resources_override!
EDIT 4:
EDIT 3: Added red color option!
EDIT 2: Added pink and white color options, as well as Saturn (Convexus)'s custom-color pack!
EDIT: Added cyan and green color options!
Customization: The current version of the mod defaults to an orangey yellow/gold color. To change this, you can open up the two files body_default.sha to change the belly plates, and headwings_default.sha to change the eyes. Inside each of these files you will find lines of code that look like this:
rgbColor 1 0.4 0 1.0
Changing these values will change the color of the thing! Make sure to replace all instances of this line with the values you desire. You can have the eyes and belly be different colors or the same.I am reasonably sure the first three values are red, green, and blue values while the final value is intensity. You can figure out the "Istarian RGB" fractional color values here: https://istariareference.com/color/
If anyone with more modding experience can figure out a way to auto-tint the color to the player's color, please do share!
If you want to disable one or the other, replace the filename of the portion you want to disable in dragon_u_char.def with dragon_default.sha.
If you want to install the Claws/Horns addon:
- Download the addon from Optional Files
- Drag the contents of the Claws/Horns addon folder into your Glowing Eyes/Belly folder.
- When prompted to overwrite the shader files, hit "yes". NOTE: This will reset any custom colors to white, so you will need to edit the shader files to restore them or adjust for custom textures.
- The eyes, belly, claws, and wingclaws/teeth/horns are all colored separately, so you will need to edit all of their entries if you want them all to match.
Compatibility: Will NOT play nicely with any other mods that affect the hatchling, adult, or ancient dragon char.defs.
FAQ:
Q. Can you add X custom color/texture?
A. Maybe. I don't mind taking requests, as long as they benefit the community at large (no private mod commissions), but I also have a full-time job + other obligations which might not make it feasible to do. Currently, I plan to add patches for glowing mouth, teeth, horns, and claws, but these have no ETA.
Q. Can you put the glow on a mask/stance/sunscope?
A. Not at this time. This mod is an edit to the base racial shaders for Dragons, so it is tied to Dragons as a race. Although it might be possible attach these shaders to other objects with some experimentation, I would need to spend hours testing and might even need to rewrite the mod from scratch, so I don't plan to do this any time soon. However, anyone is welcome to take and use the base files from this mod and attempt to port it themselves.
Q. Can you put it on a costume?
A. Yes. Because costumes technically change your race, racial shaders can also be edited. As of 8/31/24, the following costume ports have been done:
