Sick of some of the worse-named songs in ASBR, I've changed many of them to what I consider IMOSHO to be better.

Supported Languages: English, 日本語

This mod uses and requires JoJoAPI.
The data is listed in JSON format, so feel free to make any personal changes you wish!

Changelist
For a lot of these, I opted to either use arc titles or cool, unique quotes. I especially wanted to get rid of lazy titles that were just the Stand name. There are also a lot of capitalisation thingies I changed, but those are not included in this list.
  • [Opening] A Curious Fate / 数奇な運命A Chequered Fate - "chequered" ("checkered" en-US) better translates "数奇な", emphasising dramatic and full of ups and downs.
  • [Mode Select] BEGIN THE GAME!OPEN THE GAME! - No one cares if "begin" makes more sense. This is iconic (and matches the Japanese btw)!
  • [Character Select] Who Shall Judge?! / 裁くのは誰だ!?Who Will Be The Judge?! - Closer to the translation fans are familiar with, and generally sounds cooler imo.
  • [Gallery Shop] Grab some greenbacks! / ひともうけしてやるね → I'll Make A Profit! - Might change this one later, but basically, "greenback" is slang for a US dollar... but Wang Chan's shop is in the UK... Also just generally a weird thing to say anyway, telling himself to grab some.
  • [Artwork Viewer] Looks like there's a new page... / 新しいページが…………あらわれた……ゾ → A New Page... / 新しいページが………… - Too long.
  • [JoJo Glossary] The HELL is that supposed to mean?! / 根掘り 葉掘り 聞き回る → The HELL Does That Mean?! - This still has nothing to do with the Japanese title, but I like it since it does fit Ghiaccio. Shortened and more direct.
  • [Jonathan Joestar] Luck & Pluck → A True Gentleman / 本当の紳士 - I say save the Luck & Pluck reference for Bruford. It's not like it's that big a part of Jonathan's character anyway, and I like this to represent him better - he wants to be a true gentleman!
  • [Will Anthonio Zeppeli] Zeppeli the Eccentric / 奇人ツェペリ → What Is Courage?!/ 「勇気」とはいったい何か!? - The original name is a good reference to his arc, but I like his "courage" quote more, and feel it better encompasses his character. He's not even that eccentric in comparison to other characters.
  • [Robert E. O. Speedwagon] The Dastardly Speedwagon / おせっかい焼きのスピードワゴン → The Meddling Speedwagon - More accurate and familiar translation.
  • [Dio Brando] How feeble! / 貧弱貧弱ゥ~~ッ!! → I Reject My Humanity! / おれは人間をやめるぞ! - Original was really lame and generic. The Japanese is more well-known, but this new quote is more iconic in both languages, and very well representative of Dio himself.
  • [Lisa Lisa] Lisa Lisa (Elizabeth) / LISA LISA → Ripple Teacher Lisa Lisa / 波紋教師 リサリサ - No comment... New title is her introduction arc.
  • [Kars] Light Mode / 光のモード</ruby> → The Man Who Became A God / 神となった男 - Kars is often overlooked for the badass final villain he is. He deserves a cooler title!! This one's from the final arc of Part 2, and might actually be referring to Joseph, but hell if I know.
  • [Old Joseph] Can't Hate The Guy / にくめないヤツ</ruby> → OH! MY! GOD! - I really don't understand what the original was referencing. Maybe the Japanese is more well-known, but otherwise, too generic. Joseph's "OH MY GOD" may be overused in memes, but it is still iconic!
  • [Noriaki Kakyoin] Hierophant Green / 法皇の緑 → Invisible / 見えない - This one was hard, but I wanted to reference his monologue at the end of Part 3, since it references both himself and his Stand. Either way, better than just his Stand name.
  • [Iggy] The Shape-Shifting Fool of Sand! / 変幻自在の砂の「愚者」だぜッ! → Not My Problem / おれは「無関係」 - I want a title that resonates with the character, not just their Stand. This new one captures Iggy's initial selfishness and apathy.
  • [Hol Horse] Pistol Spin / メギャン → No. 2 Beats Being No. 1! / 一番よりNo.2! - It's a cool Japanese title, but does not translate well into English whatsoever. This new title replaces the Japanese one too, but I can see why some would prefer "megyan".
  • [Mariah] Bast / バステト女神 → None Can Stop My Magnetism / あたしの磁力を止める術はない - Can't lie, this one's kinda lame, but I am not having "Bast".
  • [Josuke Higashikata] Hearts of Gold / 黄金の精神 → You're Within My Range / 射程距離内に入ったぜ - I do like the original, but it's just too generic. Plus, I keep confusing it as Giorno's theme thanks to the "Gold" (skill issue, but still). Anyway, Morioh town has hearts of gold, but Josuke? I've never really seen him as representative of that. This new title should better convey the dread you will feel when you enter Crazy Diamond's range...
  • [Jotaro Kujo 4] And time moves again... / 「時」は動き出す → Just In Time / 間に合ったぜ - Not bad, but not specific to Jotaro 4 (more Diego to me). This new one's both a pun and a lot more specific to Jotaro's defeat of Kira.
  • [Koichi Hirose] Does This Mean I've Gotten Stronger?! / ひょっとして成長したんですかァ!? → Reliable Guy / 頼れる男 - To be fair, it's extremely generic, but anyone within the JoJo fandom will know exactly who this is. The original title wasn't particularly Koichi anyway.
  • [Yukako Yamagishi] Yukako Yamagishi Falls In Love / 山岸由花子は恋をする → Love Is Invincible / 「愛」は無敵 - I like the original, but it's nnot much of a battle theme. The new one keeps the theme of love, but with a quote from Yukako herself. EoH fans should recognise it from her and Koichi's dual heat attack.
  • [Shigekiyo Yangu] Harvest / ハーヴェスト → Shigechi / 重ちー - Yeah... Couldn't think of much here, but I've always disliked how the game uses "Shigekiyo Yangu" as his title. I like his nickname, Shigechi.
  • [Keicho Nijimura] Worse Company / 極悪中隊(バッド・カンパニー) → Ironclad Defence / 鉄壁の守り - Both of these suck, but I didn't want to do "I Want To Kill My Father!", so this will do (for now, at least).
  • [Akira Otoishi] Rock n' Roll Savior / ウルトラ・スーパー・ギタリスト → Ultra Super Guitarist - The Japanese is "Urutora Suupaa Gitarisuto". I actually don't mind localisation stuff like this when translating, but in this case, Ultra Super Guitarist resonates more with my soul. Plus, JoJo is special for its relationship with Engrish, and I'd prefer to keep that for this franchise in particular.
  • [Kosaku Kawajiri] KILL A / KILL・A → KILL-A - The hyphen should hopefully stop the brain from reading it as "Kill Ayyy" to "Kill
    -Ah". Banger title btw.
  • [Giorno Giovanna] Golden Wind / 黄金体験 → Gang-Star / ギャング・スター - Hooow did this happen?! New title is a reference to Giorno's "I want to be a gang-star" quote. Perfect since he is a Joestar-descended gangster.
  • [Guido Mista] Go, Six Bullets! / 行け………『セックス・ピストルズ』ッ! → Uno! Due! / ウーノ! ドゥーエ! - Another one that kinda sucks on both ends. I love Mista's "Uno! Due! Now die!" quote, but it's hard to make it sound cool and compact as a song title.
  • [Pannacotta Fugo] Real Trust / 真実の信頼 → Virus / ウイルス - No idea where the original comes from, but I like the reference to his ability, as his Stand heavily reflects his personality.
  • [Pannacotta Fugo] Real Trust / 真実の信頼 → Virus / ウイルス - No idea where the original comes from, but I like the reference to his ability, as his Stand heavily reflects his personality.
  • [Leone Abbacchio] I swear on my pride and my dignity. / 「誇り(プライド)」と「面子(メンツ)」にかけて… → Replay / リプレイ - Abbacchio is such an asshole, it's hillariously difficult to find a good quote, but this one will do for now. Might change later to allude to his past as a police officer.
  • [Prosciutto & Pesci] Thankful Death / 偉大なる死(ザ・グレイトフル・デッド) → The Deed Is Already Done! / スデに行動は終わっているんだッ! - Banger scene and quote, and reflects both Prosciutto and Pesci very well.
  • [Ghiaccio] Freezing temperatures can make the entire world stand still! / 超低温は「静止の世界」だ → Death In Venezia / ヴェネツィアに死す - Stupidly long original title. This new one is a funny allusion (those who know :skull:)
  • [Risotto Nero] I have my own way. / 「殺(や)り方」はできている → How I'll Kill You / 殺り方 - Another obscure one. The new title would go hard on a diss track, but anyway is a reference to "I know how I'll kill you".
  • [Diavolo] They Called Him Diavolo / そいつの名はディアボロ → King of Kings / キング・オブ・キングス - Cool original title, but couldn't pass on this opportunity (both are arc names).
  • [Jolyne Cujoh] I Want to Watch the Starlight / 星の光をみていたい → I Choose To See The Stars - I cannot express enough how important this quote is to JoJo Parts 1-6, and I just want to make sure it's translated properly. This quote is a response to the "Two prisoners gaze out their cell window. One sees the mud. The other sees the stars", first appearing in Volume 1 of the entire series.
  • [Foo Fighters] This Is Intellect / これが「知性」なんだ → My Intellect / あたしの「知性」 - Another banger original title, although I've made it more personal. This isn't just intellect. This is Foo Fighter's intellect - something she strongly expresses multiple times in Part 6.
  • [Narciso Anasui] His Name is Anastasia / その名はアナスイ → Celebrate Us / 祝福しろ - The original's an arc title, but it's just kind of lame. Anasui doesn't have that much aura for it to be his main title, unlike Diavolo ("They Call Him Diavolo"). This new one's a bit generic, but I like that it conveys his narcissism.
  • [Enrico Pucci (Final)] Dawn of Destiny / 運命の夜明け → Time of Heaven / 天国の時 - Is the original even from JoJo?? It's cool, but really generic, and this new one's a lot more specific.
  • [Johnny Joestar] Tusk / 牙(タスク) → Roundabout Path / 廻り道 - I'll admit, Johnny may be the only exception where I actually like his Stand name being his title. However, I don't like it enough, and I do like his "roundabout path" quote at the end of Part 7.
  • [Funny Valentine] All For Justice / 全てが『正義』だ → Everything For Justice - This quote in its enirety has much debate over how to translate it well, but anyway, I read this as "Everything I do is for justice", as opposed to "All I do is for justice". Just sounds more grandiose, I suppose.
  • [Parallel World Diego] Me Time / オレだけの時間だぜ → High Voltage / ハイ・ヴォルテージ - I DESPISE the English title from the original. Some find it funny and clever, but Diego is no joke!! Anyway, doesn't matter because I like the High Voltage arc title instead. A lot of people now associate this with Part 3 DIO thanks to Last Survivor (grrrrr), but that's not going to stop me from giving it to its rightful owner. Parallel Diego isn't just a character - he's the final arc - and for that, this is the title that sparked this whole mod idea.
  • [Josuke Higashikata 8] Who Am I, Anyways? / じゃあオレは誰なんだ? → Go★Beyond - Be gone, foul beast! Obviously questionably fitting considering none of his moveset reflects late JoJolion, but if you don't have the Go Beyond mod installed, what are you doing??
  • [Wonder of U] Calamity is coming. / 厄災が来る → Calamity Approaches - Not a fan of this title anyway, but I'm not far enough into JoJolion to have any better ideas just yet. Also, this translation just sounds cooler.
  • [Wonder of U] Baoh, The Final Weapon / 最終兵器バオー → Baoh, The Ultimate Weapon - This one was just a glaring translation error.
