About this image

Hey, I'm the wall of text maker.
So I wanna talk about JWE2 Modding, and why we won't get modding instantly. It's not even confirmed, that JWE2 will get modding at all as long the game isn't "finished", because... Well, Universal. That Universal can be kinda bitchy sometimes, isn't a secret. They are a really big company with really picky copyright. Well, but that's just the worst case scenario, we could get Modding in, at least kinda near time.
Sooo, let's talk why the game won't be modable at the point where it releases.
The most obvious problem are the tools. JWE2 is, 1. A different game, 2. Has probably more datas, 3. More datas with different extensions (maybe). The tools aren't made for JWE2 at all, because we didn't have any chance to look in the datas. If we have luck, it wouldn't take too long. And tbh, the Cobra Tools Devs could encounter many problems at modifying the tools to make them "JWE2 compatible". And if you think that we'll can make New Species when the tools are updated... Well, it's possible, if it takes long or Frontier aren't bitchy to modders. I bet they'll make a huge content pack called "Content0", which has a main.ovl with thousands of datas. JWE2 will probably get prefabs too, which are a big pain in the ass. Since months we aren't able to even read them (at least not that I know from), and we had to be able to make them unpackable and "injectable". We had to make a New Main.ovl, which we aren't able to. 1. Prefabs, 2. Maybe new datas, with new extensions.
We can't really tell, what we can expect. Will JWE2 be modable at all or is it tolerated and we'll just have to wait until the Cobra Tool Devs make them for JWE2? Well, we don't know, I'll just warn you, if you think that NexusMods will have a Modding Community tab for JWE2 from beginning, with a shitload of real quality mods... Nope. If JWE2 won't be modable at all, a lot of modders, which are still active will probably continue modding JWE1.
So yeah... Don't get too excited, and enjoy the game itself before you wait for a JWE2 modding community on Nexus.

That's the thing, I don't think we'll need mods at the start. During Frontier's stream today, we could see something that was shocking at least for me. In the Dinosaurs tab there are 107 entries, which means we'll have 107 SPECIES AT LAUNCH, possibly including the Deluxe DLC ones. On the buildings tab there are 145 entries, so 107 species and 145 buildings. Now, I wouldn't get too excited with the buildings, as it can easily be that the JP era versions for some buildings have their own entries, but HOLY F**K 107 SPECIES.
So mods would be unnecesary for some time because, let's be honest, if it truly has that many dinosaurs and buildings to choose from I doubt anybody will get bored of playing that thing for a loooong time, and that will also give modders a chance to better understand how to mod this already great game.

I think it's too early to talk about Jurassic World Evolution 2 mods. Why? Because, well, we get several new species of flying and marine reptiles plus new species never seen before and new maps and buildings, the only problem are the hitboxes and so on for now, so modding a game that looks right actually great is absurd for now. The only thing I would actually mod are the hitboxes in game and nothing else, because you get a great variety of animals and buildings and maps!

I don't think you'll need mods for JWE2. Since it looks like the game will be able to keep itself alive by just how polished, detailed, and alive the game feels compared to JWE. They even updated the models to look accurate, expect for the JP DLC skins, but regardless, the Spinosaurus is very accurate. It would be cool to see mods, but I think the game will keep itself alive through being a better game than JWE already.

Sure, but there will always be that one species that you wish was in the game and isn't. And that's when you'll turn to mods. :)

or you can be patient and wait for updates and dlcs instead of depending on mods for new content like the first game

Look how log was to make really important mods like EIslands, Mix Eras and new species standalone scenery items. Seriously New species arrive at the start of 2021 for game from 2018. Dont understand why some people think it will be easier and faster to mod JWE2. However i will still play in JWE with mods alongside with jwe2 ofc. I dont think there will be for example bigger maps that in modded JWE. etc etc. It is obvious that our tools won't work for new game... for 99,9%.
