JWE is filled with rather boring depictions of duckbilled dinosaurs. But I am also not known for the most colorfull or vivid mod representations either. I'm more into the detail and believability in the context of the JP universe.
But this time a little more creativity was needed. As the Tsintaosaurus has one of the strangest skulls ever found on a dinosaur. A long bone sticking straight out of the forehead like a unicorn. It's not just something you can shrinkwrap some skin over and call it a day. It just doesn't seem like the whole picture. What was the purpose? Was it base for soft tissue? The JWE developers sure thought so but I took it a little further.
Perhaps it was the core of of a keratin horn crest connected to the beak? Well that is what I went for and as the Tsintao is one of the more bleak dinos I also added some much needed color to the head like some modern day big birds have.
* More defined body shape
* Neck burlap
* Larger beak
* Horn crest
* More defined facial features overall
* More detailed diffuse, normal and specular maps
The aim of my mods is generally to make them more believable as animals while still sticking to a design fitting the JP universe. Paleo accuracy is not a priority but is nevertheless most of the time taken in to account.
