About this mod
This mod changes much of the weapon and crossbow crafting system. These changes help to allow more meaningful crafting both early-game and late-game.
Much of this mod is personal preference, but if you felt disappointed with anything in the vanilla smithing system, you'll probably appreciate this.

This mod makes lots of changes to the weapon/crossbow smithing mechanics.
I've tried to cover all of the changes in the "docs" section and changelogs on this page.
I haven't tested this mod extensively myself. I heavily encourage you to give feedback of any kind.
You can leave a comment or a bug report on this Nexus mod page
If you decide to download this mod, I recommend tracking it. An update fixing an important bug will probably come sooner than you think.
Lots of research changes. I tried to avoid making the research too book-heavy as I added lots of options. You can get at least one recipe for each category of weapon from researching, but you will have to find blueprints for the rest.
You can start making weapons pretty early, as soon as you have Tech Level 2 and iron plates. Crossbows require copper as well. However, these early weapons won't be all that good until you upgrade to powered crafting buildings and decently skilled smiths.
This is my first time uploading a mod, but I've experimented with making a few for personal play. My primary concerns with the mod are simple bugs and balancing issues. Since I haven't extensively tested this myself, I'd appreciate feedback regarding things such as:
- Value of crafted items and blueprints
- Opinion on difficulty of crafting
- Anything that might be considered a bug, such as a blueprint that costs nothing, or a missing crafting recipe after researching.
I'm bound to have made a mistake somewhere, but I've ironed out anything I could find before uploading. I hope the quality surpasses your expectations.
=== Compatibility / Other Stuff ===
I don't know how compatible this mod is with other mods yet. If the mods you use change the research or recipes for weapon/crossbow smithing then it's likely to cause some problems. It probably won't crash your game, but it could cause logic errors that make it difficult to craft stuff. I encourage users to test it out with whatever mods they like. The mod doesn't change vendor lists, so don't worry about overwriting those if you place it at the end of your load order.
I'm thinking about making a Better Armorsmithing mod as well. It really just depends on how I feel, especially once I've recieved feedback for this mod. I may also want to split this mod into two separate mods: one for weapon smithing and another for crossbow smithing. Let me know what you think.
I won't be uploading this mod to the Steam Workshop, and for now, the only place I'd like to recieve feedback is this mod page. Thank you!
