Turn off AmbientLight.fx for a slight performance boost or if you don't like the way the interface is looking.
You can also enable Borders.fx for the letterbox if you want to take screenshots. Press F7 in-game to turn off the HUD (default key bind).

I recommend you get v.4.5.4 since the new installer is confusing as hell. Here's the original 4.5.4 version from the official repository for legacy builds. And here is the main site for older versions.
