Some skills in KCD 2 are hard to level up. For example, in my opinion, Scholarship and Speech are really hard to level up compared to other skills. You can level them up by reading books, but there are only 76 lore books and 80 skill books (plus some letters and other items). So, I decided to add new books. This mod adds 6 skill books for each skill, except Warfare, which has 5 new skill books. All books are distributed among scribes and related merchants across both the Kuttenberg and Trosky maps.

All books are written by me (at least as a sketch). I used AI to speed things up and to help convert the stories so they’re consistent with the KCD 2 timeline. Still, there might be some small inconsistencies with the history of Bohemia in 1403.

  • adds 113 skill books. Each skill, except Warfare, has 6 books: a book series consisting of 4 volumes and 2 standalone books. Each of these books increases only one skill. There are 5 Warfare books, each focused on a specific combat style (sword, heavy weapons, etc). These books increase both Warfare and the related combat skill, but they only require a specific Warfare level to read, not the combat skill itself.

  • adds 23 lore books. As usual, lore books increase only Speech and Scholarship levels. I think there are already enough skill books (the vanilla game has only 80), so if I add new books in the future, they’ll probably be lore books.

  • adds a new icon for Warfare skill books. If you are a mod author and need this icon, feel free to use it.

  • distributes books to certain merchants. The books are not fixed but have a probability to appear in their inventory. For example, a merchant is less likely to have a high-level skill book than a beginner-level one.

  • Supports English, Turkish, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Czech, German, Russian, and Spanish languages. I am planning to add other languages. Thanks to angryval for the German translation, Sir4ndy80 for the Spanish translation and Sam15SVK for checking the Czech translation.

If you find any mistakes like inaccurate details, typos, etc., please let me know. I'm also open to book ideas. If you have a good short story, I can adapt it to medieval times and credit you in the game as the author of that book (or book series).

  • Extract this mod's folder into the Mods directory.

This mod should be compatible with everything except mods that change the inventories of certain merchants that this mod edits (mostly scribes). It’s also compatible with my other mod, LD's New Potions. Additionally, compatibility files for some Rich Merchant mods have been included.
