Notice: As of v1.0.3, this mod now requires my AutoCfg Loader mod to execute it's cfg file on player spawn (it used to contain it's own script to do this, but I think it'd be better to have one script to handle all .cfg mods). Old versions of the mod are still available if you prefer (I'd recommend 1.0.2fos if so).

What Does This Mod Do?

  • Adjusts Global Illumination and Ambient Occlusion params for softer shadows and darker AO.
  • Should not affect performance to a noticeable degree on any in-game settings (if it does, please let me know and I will try to make an alternate version to remedy it).
  • Works with all in-game "Global Illumination" settings. "Medium", "High", or "Ultra" settings are recommended.
  • Recommended to use with "Medium" or higher in-game "Shader quality" setting. Using with "Low" will result in flickering shadows.

Installation Instructions:
  • Copy the zip contents into your KCD2 install folder. This will create a "Mods" folder if you do not already have one, or will merge the contents with your existing folder.

  • To uninstall, delete the "Soft Shadows" folder from your [KCD2>Mods] folder.

  • Notice: I have not personally tested installing via Vortex, but it should work.

Compatibility:
  • If installed properly, should have no conflicts with any other mods (unless they edit the same values after this mod applies them).
  • Recommended to use with a realism-focused "LUT" mod, such as Noble LUT by u/TheCyanideX (or any other that you prefer). Screenshots do not use any "LUT" mods.
