This mod removes the cooldown on the game's random events, resulting in nearly guaranteed random encounters, whether you're fast traveling or riding.
This includes hostile encounters, as well as all non-dangerous generic events (merchants, corpses, neutral camps, caravans, etc.).
Fully compatible with all other mods, including other encounter mods.

I wanted to use a method that reduced cooldowns instead of eliminating them, but it didn't work as intended. Instead, to alleviate the annoyance of too many encounters during fast travel, I'm working on a mod that allows you to ignore any encounter from the fast travel event selection.





Installation: 

Unzip to "Mods" folder and

Enable -devmode launch argument



How to Enable devmode

For Steam Users:

Right click on KCD2 in steam and select properties.
Then copy and paste these into your launch options: -devmode

For Epic Games Users:
For the launch options click on the 3 dots next to your game in the launcher and click manage
Then enable launch options and copy/paste: -devmode 


For GOG or No Launcher:
  •  Go to KCD2 folder find the .exe which would be located here: KingdomComeDeliverance2\Bin\Win64MasterMasterSteamPGO
  •  Find your "KingdomCome.exe" and right click on it and make a shortcut
  •   Right click on your shortcut and go to properties and select the "Shortcut" tab
  •  In the "Target" section copy/paste -devmode at the end so it would look like this: 
\KingdomComeDeliverance2\Bin\Win64MasterMasterSteamPGO\KingdomCome.exe" -devmode
(Make sure the spaces are all in their correct spots)


  • It's possible that devmode isn't enabled, especially if you are launching the game through Vortex. To check, bring up the in-game console by pressing the backtick key `(~), and then enter wh_pl_RandomEventsCooldownsEnabled. If the value returned is '0', then the mod is properly functioning








To avoid any misunderstandings, here's my understanding of how random events work in this game:

1.  Random events only occur at specific, predetermined points on the roads of the map.  For example, the direct road from Miskowitz to the west gate of Kuttenberg is quite long, but it only has one event point, roughly in the middle. This means that even with this mod installed, you will only encounter a maximum of one random encounter while traversing that road. This mod maximizes the chance of an encounter at valid event locations; it doesn't add encounters in arbitrary locations. Note: Hostile bandit encounters are more common near forests and less common on open roads.

  • To verify that encounters are indeed more frequent, I recommend the following fast travel routes:
  • Act 1: Troskowitz to Zhelejov
  • Act 2: Miskowitz to Bylany
  • Each of these routes can potentially trigger 3-4 encounters.

2.  Even at designated event points, each event has its own individual probability of occurring.  This mod adjusts the cooldown, not the probability.  This means that even if a road has four potential event locations, you won't always encounter all four; sometimes you might only encounter three or two.


3.  Random encounters are not limited to just groups of 3-4 bandits or neutral camps.  Especially when playing without fast travel, if you come across an empty campsite on the road, look around. If you see a civilian or mercenary on horseback, that NPC has replaced the NPCs that would normally stay at the camp.
