About this mod

The definitive KH3 Riku mod. Gameplay has been overhauled, bugs have been fixed, and now you can complete the campaign as him.

PROJECT EQUINOX -COMPLETE-

For the uninitiated, this is a combat overhaul for Kingdom Hearts III,
based around the series deuteragonist Riku.
Keyblades and Formchanges have been changed, animations have been swapped,
and a ton of assets have been modified to better reflect Riku rather than Sora.

This is the most complete version of the mod, as just about every single bug has been ironed out,
and every bit of Riku's moveset has been accounted for.
I highly encourage you to give it a go, if you haven't already.

Will there be future updates to this mod? Maybe. Maybe not.
If I could find a way to skip all the cutscenes to make this more of a gameplay-focused experience,
then I would probably go back to make that change.
But I don't think anybody really knows how to do that... yet.
For now, though, I would consider this the complete package.

FAQ

Q: Are you going to/can you make a (character) mod?
A: I don't take requests for mods. (Commissions, maybe, but even that is a case-by-case basis.) If you mean mods I personally would like to do, though... I don't know. I guess we'll see.

Q: Will there be world-specific or alternate outfits for Riku?
A: World-specific? No. Alternate? Maybe.

Q: What is the end goal for this?
A: Giving Riku an expanded kit and making him a viable and fun character to play through the whole game.

Q: Is there any story tied to this mod?
A: Sort of? But this is a fan-made work, do try to remember that. This is Tetsuya Nomura's IP, and I'm not here to profess that I have a better idea on how his story should be written. I'm not even doing any broad strokes with this project's story, either; this is a gameplay mod first and foremost. But there are some vignettes here and there about that one year that everybody's spent searching for Sora.

Q: Will using this mod have any effect on Riku's playable segments in the campaign?
A: The only significant change will be how Riku's base combo comes out and flows a little faster. Aside from that, not really.

Q: Are Formchanges changed for Riku?
A: Oh boy, are they. Most of his Formchanges are effectively his Link Styles from KH3D.

Q: Which Keyblades don't have working Formchanges?
A: At this point, all of the Keyblades have been replaced, with their own respective Formchanges.

Q: Is (insert game mechanic here) going to be changed or added?
A: Maybe, maybe not. It depends on what you're asking for. For all intents and purposes though, this is basically the final form of Project Equinox.

Q: Can you make modular versions of the (insert any ability or Formchange here) moveset, so I can play as Sora with these abilities?
A: No.

Q: Any recommendations for using this mod in a playthrough?
A: Not really. I would personally skip the cutscenes, because the gameplay is the main draw. But that's just my preference. All I can really say is have fun.

Q: Is this mod compatible with the Light vs. Darkness mod?
A: No.

Q: Is this mod compatible with Improved Movement?
A: Yep! YuriLewd's mod loader - which allows for this mod to be used, among others - is also compatible.

Q: Why Riku?
A: Well, first and foremost, he's my favorite KH character. Secondly, his moveset is kinda lacking compared to the other playable characters in KH3. (Which is strange, considering he's the deuteragonist of the series.) And thirdly... why not Riku? I feel like if I hadn't started this, nobody else would've thought to touch him.

Installing this is as simple as placing the unzipped file in the '~mods' folder wherever you have the game installed.
