MEHEM Problems and Solutions FAQ
General advise:
- Use the current version of MEHEM (currently v0.5)
- If you have a previous version of MEHEM currently installed, use
wavion's uninstaller for the old version first, then use the v0.5
installer
- Before you install, go to Origin right click on Mass Effect 3 in your library and click "check for updates"
- Go to Origin"s setting and set "Automatically update my games" to false
Problem: MEHEM install doesn't work!
Answer: Only install on a vanilla game with the Extended Cut installed. (see below)
Problem: My virus scanner gives an alert when I try to run the installer!
Answer: It seems that some anti-virus software has a problem with the way the
installer is scripted (the installer allows for file updates on existing
files, by just changing particular bytes in these files, which I use to
install the optional components of the mod). All I can say is that I
personally wrote the NSIS installer script for MEHEM v0.5 and I can
vouch for the fact that there is no malware in it. Maybe try to change
the settings on you anti-virus software.
Problem: I wish to uninstall MEHEM v0.5!
Answer: Go to you windows control panel, select "Add/Remove Program". Find the
entry "MEHEM v0.5" in the list, right click and click "Remove". This
will start the uninstaller. Follow the instructions on screen to remove
MEHEM v0.5 and revert the game to the original endings.
Note: If you used MEHEM with texture mods (see below) this may cause bugs and you may
have to vanilla your game after uninstalling MEHEM.
Problem: When I start my game after MEHEM installation, it doesn't start!
Answer: You are probably running MEHEM together with other mods. (see below for help with texture mods)
NOTE: MEHEM may not be compatible with some other mods. It is recommended
read documentation on any mods you use thouroughy, to check for
compatibility issues. For using MEHEM with TPF texture mods, see below.
Problem: Mass Effect 3 freezes when I try to load a save after I installed MEHEM
Answer: You are probably running MEHEM together with other mods. Download
ME3Explorer and run Auto TOC on the file "<Your ME3 Instll
Directory>\BioGame\PCConsoleTOC.bin" and the "PCConsoleTOC.bin files
of all the extracted DLCs in your "<Your ME3 Instll
Directory>\BioGame\DLC" directory
NOTE: MEHEM may not be compatible with some other mods. It is recommended read documentation on
any mods you use thouroughy, to check for compatibility issues. For
using MEHEM with TPF texture mods, see below.
Problem: I am playing ME3 with texture mods. After installing MEHEM and running
the TOC.bin updater, all my modded texture are just black!
Answer: To use MEHEM v0.5 with texture mods, please follow this guide
Problem: I want to use the Tab key for gameplay but after installing MEHEM it always brings up the console.
Answer: This is a concequence of using WV's DLC patcher, which is required for
the mod. You can deactivate the console, using the following steps (open
the spoiler to see):
- Make a backup of the file "<Your ME3 install directory>\BioGame\CookedPCConsole\Coalesced.bin"
- Open the latest version of ME3Explorer and in the menu bar, choose
"Developer Tools -> Coalesced Tools -> Coalesced Editor"
- In the menu bar choose "File -> Load" and load the file: "<Your ME3
install directory>\BioGame\CookedPCConsole\Coalesced.bin"
- In the list of the left side of the screen click on "bioinput.ini
- In the window in the right side of the screen look for the lines (you
can use the search function above the left side part of the window):

Now delete the Tab, so that the entry looks like this:

- IMPORTANT: Click the "Save Changes" button in the upper left corner of the window below the menu bar
- Now In the menu bar, click "File -> Save" and save the file back to "<Your ME3 install directory>\BioGame\CookedPCConsole\Coalesced.bin", overwriting the original (make sure you made the backup)
Now, when you start up the game, your Tab key should work as before again.
Problem: The new emails just show me lines from the star kid conversation! What's going on?
Answer: You are still using MEHEM v0.4, please update to v0.5 (see link above).
Problem: I get some weird mixture of MEHEM and the pre-Extended Cut endings (relays explode, no Thessia and Tuchanka scene, etc.)
Answer: You used a save file that was created after Cronos Station before installing the Extended Cut. Load a savegame from before Cronos Station and play from there. If you don't have another save file, play through the buggy ending once and you will be reset to just before Cronos. Now you can play from there.
Problem: After Shepard collapses in front of the console, the screen goes black and I hear the Overlord combat music but there is no MEHEM ending!
Answer 1: You maybe trying to use MEHEM with other mods that change the ending. Make sure you are not using another mod that is incompatible with MEHEM v0.5
Answer 2: You modified the MEHEM dlc. Open ME3Explorer. In the menu bar, go to "Tools -> TOC Tools -> Auto TOC", now go to "File -> Create TOC". In the opening dialogue window, navigate to ""<Your ME3 Instll Directory>\BioGame\DLC\DLC_CON_MEHEM\" and open the file "PCConsoleTOC.bin. When asked if you wish to replace the file, click "yes".
Problem: I tried everything above but it doesn't work!
Answer: As a last resort, uninstall your currently installed version of MEHEM, go to you ME3 install directory and delete the game files (note: do NOT delete the ME3 directory in your documents folder, where your profile settings and savegames are, just delete the actual game files). Then go to Origin, right click on Mass Effect 3 and choose "Repair" (if ME3 shows as uninstalled after deleting the files, just choose "Download"/"Install"). When this is done, look at the Mass Effect 3 details in Origin and scroll down to see your DLC. Right click on the Extended Cut and choose "repair". If you have Leviathan installed, also right click on Leviathan and choose "repair". Once all of this is done, right click on Mass Effect 3 in Origin and search for updates (optionally, also set Origin's auto update feature to false, see above). After that, install MEHEM v0.4.
Problem: I finished my MEHEM playthrough and want to start an NG+ game but I can't find my Shepard.
Answer: You are still using an older version of MEHEM. Please update to MEHEM v0.5

JumpIts my first time using mods for a game and im not sure i understand how this works and cant seem to find the solution to my problem..
Once i installed the mod, where do i put it? I guess i need to place the mod"s file somewhere in the game"s files but where?

i have a problem.
when shepard is saved by the crew of the normandy, the screen became black and the game doesn't go forward. if i shoot, i hear the gun, an if I reload the save I see myself on the final part of the citadel where i must do the final choise but I can't do anything.
I have installed the Expanded galaxy mod but I don't think that there is a incompatibility.
i have tried to do the "auotoc" process by I haven't had any change. there is someone that can help me? it's a bad and sad thing thatI can't play the final for this :_(

So I don't usually use mods, but I really wanted a different ending this time!
Only problem is, when I start the game it says: Unable to authorize the listed DLC, and that I need to login with the alliance account used to purchase this DLC. Is this even a problem?
How do I fix this? I've searched everywhere for an answer but found none.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Please help me to found a solution, i can't finish the game because off it.
