N7 Day 2023, GIDUM Update 1.2.1
In the latest version of GIDUM you get the base install of v1.0 as the most basic option, compatible with all languages, but you can now optionally add-on the other features that are only available in english, which features some additional dialogue references and restoration of the Shuttle dialogue choice with Anderson and Udina, as well as additional options in the comic, all without removing the original opening dialogue. 1.2.1 also updates the LE2 Unofficial Patch compatibility to that of v0.9.5
Original description:
GIDUM returns in Legendary Edition
For new and old players of the Mass Effect Trilogy, this mod undoes some cheap edits BioWare made to the opening exchange during ME2's prologue that were altered by the Genesis Recap comic DLC back when the game originally launched for PS3, and the content was ported to pc users as a DLC.
Genesis Intro Dialogue Undo Mod restores Mass Effect 2's opening cutscene as it originally was!
This means you can still see the Genesis comic recap, and have the Anderson vs Udina Councilor choice made before the shuttle conversation with Miranda and Jacob, but the conversation between Illusive Man and Miranda about the choice to save or kill the Council is restored.
What Genesis DLC originally changed:
- Miranda has a similar line about what Shepard did at the end of ME1 that has been overridden by Illusive Man interjecting a generic reply. "Commander Shepard uncovered the truth"
- "Humans may control the council" vs "The council is still in charge and Shepard remains our best hope" was replaced by the stilted line from a
later dialogue where he says: "We're at war. No one wants to admit it, but humanity is under attack" which he also says in the exact same way later in the game when you talk to him as Shepard. - Added a comic recap after the prologue level ends, which can be used by starting a "New Game" to create your ME1 choices, or to recap what happened in ME1 on an imported save.
- In the shuttle scene after the Cerberus station level, Miranda and Jacob ask you a series of questions. Originally the "Anderson vs Udina Councilor" choice was not imported from Mass Effect 1, so they masked it by having the player answer a question that decides it. Genesis DLC entirely skipped this line of questioning after selecting it in the comic version, so you won't even hear the dialogue.
What GIDUM Legendary Edition undoes:
- The opening dialogue is changed back to the vanilla exchange even if the "Humans control the council" plot is dropped in ME3.
- Illusive Man's lines are exclusive to this scene and delivered with his captivating performance intended for this moment.
- (OPTIONAL ON INSTALL!) Restores the dialogue in the shuttle but Shepard auto-replies what option was picked in ME1 Legendary Edition.
