I have been really waiting for this, a version that is like 100% close and direct to the original game with better textures that match the dark and gritty atmosphere of the game.
will be waiting for it, and hopefully in the future we can find out how to increase the draw distance for better level of detail and no pop-ins.
I think we should find a way to allow this game to support higher quality textures. Too high texture quality will cause the map to not load or be unable to load, which gives me a headache. I have to find ways to reduce it. Do you have any knowledge in this area?
The problem with max payne 3 is that it does not have like a gameconfig or a similar data file where we can adjust the use of memory pools to allow for more stuff.
For that, I think the best other solutions is to optimize the textures as much as possible, for example, have you tried saving the texture in the same format like the original game files? Like if a wtd file has textures in dx5, when you create your own texture or upscale it, also use dx5.. another thing, did you consider limiting the texture resolution to 2k, or does it crash at 2k?
4k is unnecessary and extreme, a 2k or at least 1k is excellent and enough, and saving the texture in its original format will drastically reduce the file size and drastically increase load speed due to how much more optimized it will be, I think this step is the most important one.
I have optimized and stabilized the texture pack, but I am not satisfied with the current effect! Only a very small number of 2k textures are allowed in the game, so 95% of the textures can only be 1k and 512×512 or lower. Can we find a file that can adjust the memory pool or write a script to hook it?
I had to find a way to use the few high-quality textures I had in very prominent places, but when I looked at the original files, I found that Rockstar didn't mind using 256×256 ultra-low-quality textures in very prominent places, such as the ground that the player had to walk on, and I don't know why they did that. It's disgusting, and it makes the whole game look mosaic!
to be honest I had looked a lot of times using all the tools I have but no luck, I could not find any files to change anything, it is very weird this game does not accept these textures, even though rdr1 which came 2010 can take 4k textures now on pc, not sure why

What does the anim folder has different than the base one? Some fixes or?

thank you for the work.
