Donation Drive to help Victims of War in Ukraine

  • Comment
I’m sure you’re all aware of the horrible assault on Ukraine that started on 24 February. Along with the leadership and people of the vast majority of countries in the world, we strongly condemn this unprovoked attack on another sovereign nation at the orders of Russian president Vladimir Putin.

At this moment the people of Ukraine are suffering the consequences of Putin’s war of aggression which is bringing nothing but death, destruction, and displacement to countless families.

During these troubling times, we, and I’m certain many of you, have been in awe of the spirited resistance the Ukrainian people have been mounting against the invaders, as well as the sheer outpour of solidarity across the world in light of a horrible attack.

Plenty of Ukrainian users are part of our modding community. In February alone, we had over 270,000 visits from users in Ukraine and now they are in desperate need.

Like many of you, we feel the urge to help and we simply cannot stand idly by while people are suffering due to this war. That is why we are now launching a donation drive to raise funds and support the Red Cross in its mission to bring medical aid to the people of Ukraine.

  • To start the fundraiser off, we are paying in £1,000 (roughly $1,330)
  • We are also going to double the total amount raised up to £10,000 (roughly $13,300)

We encourage everyone who can afford it and wants to support the Red Cross in Ukraine to donate in order to bring at least some relief to those hurt most by this war.

In addition to that, we have added a new charity option to our mod rewards store with the same purpose. All donation points mod authors allocate to the “Ukraine Relief Effort” charity will be going towards the same fund.

We believe that we as a community can make a difference not just by donating, but by showing our solidarity with those hurt by an abhorrent attack and ongoing war.

“But I don’t want politics on a mod site”

I don’t blame you, however, we unfortunately now live in a world where the first full-scale military invasion in Europe since World War II has become a reality, and shutting our eyes to this evil is simply not an option. If you don’t want to, or can’t donate, that is perfectly fine, but we don’t believe it is a matter of politics to condemn this war, and to want to support the victims of war.

We won’t allow hatred on our site

Please note that we will in no way, shape, or form tolerate support for this atrocious act of aggression carried out by the Russian government under President Putin, nor will we allow users to make excuses and provide “justifications” for an unprovoked and unjust war. Please report any such actions to the moderation team for review, thank you.

At the same time, we do not want any of our Russian users who have joined the rest of the world in condemning Putin’s war, and who are now suffering the economic consequences of this aggression, to experience discrimination or harassment based solely on their nationality.

We know that many, many Russian people are as appalled as the rest of us and we wish them the best during what will most likely be very trying times ahead.

We are hoping for a swift end to the armed conflict and for the people of Ukraine to be able to return to their homes. Thank you to everyone who is showing their support and/or donating to aid the victims of this war, and please note that you are of course free to choose a different charity or cause if you’d prefer.

If you’d like to support the people of Ukraine in other ways, here is a (non-exhaustive) list of alternative charities:

This is a donation drive to help the Red Cross providing medical aid to those in need. It should be beyond politics to want to help those hurt and displaced by armed combat.

As is stated in the news post we won't allow support or justifications for the attack on Ukraine - so any comments trying to justify this war of aggression will be removed. If you insist on spreading lies and hatred, we will impose posting bans.

Please do your own research and consult independent sources, if they have not yet been censored by your government. Ask yourself if it isn't more likely that your government is feeding you lies to justify a war, rather than the entire rest of the world getting the facts wrong.

From what i see now, living here, in Russia: no one wants a conflict yet we get pressed by our government because we're making protests, our western colleagues in a hurry to break all contacts with us and delete their stuff from our territory, no Russian makes anything to get blocked or to block by themselves.
Most likely this site will be difficult to visit for us, not you.

Russian nationalists want the opposite of this war. Their main objective would be to keep Russia Russian, except the Kremlin suppresses all such sentiments and puts them in prison. All the members in this war are part of the World Economic Forum and largely share a common goal, except for the common people actually dying.

I know brother Russian's not bad people,
9 years ago in Antalya, while swimming in the river, I got caught in the current, then a Russian tourist grabbed me and pulled me out of the water, since then I see the Russians as brothers.
The world suffers because of people who don't want to let go of power.
I feel sorry for both Russia and Ukraine.

_"not among the government who started all this crap.

I love that comment! As an American I am appalled by American Imperialism, and the imperialism of any nation. Be it the U.S., Russia, Great Britain, France, Japan, China, Germany, or any others who have ever seen themselves as more important than The People of Earth.

I fully agree with you my fellow Earthling! No government has any right to oppress the people of any nation, not even their own. The wealthy elite have used bigotry to pit us all against each other for thousands of years. Just for their own power, profit and even entertainment. The propaganda and bigotry that divides us, The People of Planet Earth, are the real problem. It's not The People of your country, my country, or any country. It is and always has been those who seek power over others.

Some of the many various forms of bigotry: classism, racism, misogyny, nationalism, homophobia, ageism, transphobia, monotheism, etc. If not for bigotry we could all have peace and prosperity. Without bigotry there would be no reason for war, no homelessness, and no famine other than potentially caused by nature itself.

I pray for the brave and good people of Ukraine who are unjustly being mass murdered. I pray also for the brave and good people of Russia, especially those protesting against putin the madman. I also recognize the past injustices brought upon the Russian people (just for wanting a classless, moneyless, and stateless society: the greatest threat to the capitalist oligarchy) during their own civil war 100 years ago at the hands of the western capitalist oligarch invaders from Britain, France, Japan, and the United States. Those oligarchs then were no different then than the Russian oligarchs who now invade Ukraine, nor any others from any country who have stolen the peace and prosperity of my fellow Earthlings.

War happens when the elite are too cowardly to fight themselves, so in their cowardice they force us to murder and be murdered for them.

As a patriot of planet Earth, I am proud of my siblings in Ukraine who stand in defiance of mass murder and absolute tyranny. I am also proud of my siblings in Russia who are mass protesting by the thousands in many cities in Russia, even though by simply protesting they risk more than people in most other countries. Indeed we know that thousands of Russians have been arrested for protesting putins war (mass murder, because that is what war is), and many likely will never be seen again. The bravery of all good people in both countries should inspire us all.   And I refuse to condemn my fellow Earthlings from any country for the actions of their government..

No one is ever asked what country they want to be born in !! No one. We were all born innocent.

I proudly stand in solidarity with anyone who stands for Liberty and Justice for everyone. Who will stand with us all in solidarity now?

I wish you and all my fellow Earthlings peace and prosperity !! <3

Nationalism is a form of bigotry. It is essentially racism.
Borders essentially are cages for humans. Just because you are born in one place doesn't give anyone the natural right to stop you from going to another place. If you believe that, then the next step they will take is to say you cannot go to another city, or eventually to even leave your own yard.
At what point will you be willing to admit you are a slave to our mutual oppressors? I support your freedom as my fellow Earthling. I refuse to agree to your internment, your enslavement. Will you stand for my freedom too? We would be stronger as a team.
Indeed the Russian government accidentally released a pre-written letter because they assumed Ukraine would fall instantly, and they forget to stop it from automatically uploading. But not before it was archived for all the world to see. In it is also exposed putins governments obvious racism against Anglo-Saxon people. putin and other fascists seek to enslave us all. Is that okay with you?

Freedom is the responsibility of each of us as individuals to support the freedom of everyone else. Until most humans are mature enough to accept this responsibility, no one will ever truly be free.

You are right. Whether it is a war between big countries, a war between small countries, or a war between big countries and small countries, it is always the dignitaries and nobles who gain benefits, and it is our civilians who are injured.

I live in Russia and I want to appeal to all caring guys from Russia: be very careful with donations, even to charitable organizations. Right now the authorities are doing everything they can to squeeze the smallest opposition and other opinions. They've already introduced a law banning the dissemination of information from anywhere but the official media, and for material support of "the enemy" you can be tried for treason, you can be imprisoned for up to 20 years.
It is better to transfer money to your relatives, friends and acquaintances from Ukraine directly, while it is still possible, they know where to send it.

Just so you know about the military of the Russian army: they use banned vacuum bombs, fight heavy artillery on civilians, cluster bombs, capture civilians and cover themselves with them like a human shield! This is not the military, this is international criminals and terrorists! Let you know what it is - this aggressor country whose population lives in complete lies like the USSR once! If you have the opportunity to somehow help Ukraine, which is fighting for the ideals of a free world, then look for ways! Join support movements, flash mobs, and spread true information on social networks!

Let the whole world know the truth!

You can't even imagine how many lies there are in Russia! They don't even call it a war! We live in the era of digital technologies, whoever wants can watch targeted resources or Ukrainian media and see how it is now in Ukraine!! Stoune it took years for syria to fall to where it is now, plenty of time for that to happen or not happen in Ukraine. Most damage done by Russian and Syria Government air forces but that doesn;t rule out damage by western militaries as well.

As russian citizen (enthnically I'm tatar) I sadly can't donate a dime to help Ukraine, because damned Russian government have a law equating such donations with treason and punishing by imprisonment for up to 20 years. And I really afraid, that moving DT to Red Cross could be interpreted as it too.
Please, don't be angry at russian citizens, because we are hostages in this situation too, we weren't asked about our permission to invade Ukraine, Putin and his band of siloviks and capitalists/oligarchs did it by their own will.
