When I initially released this mod, I hadn't yet reached High Rank. I had crafted a Rarity 7 hunting horn (Artian Sounder II) and immediately knew that was the horn I wanted to mod. I quickly ported my Iceborne Sax-a-Boom across, with some difficulty but not much; it seemed almost too easy, and as it transpires, it was.

The initial release didn't include anything for Rarity 6 (Artian Sounder I) or Rarity 8 (Omiltika). There were issues with the textures. Some people also reported issues with the audio. To say the least, it wasn't a great job, but it was at least getting tested thoroughly!

Eventually I updated the mod to include the Rarity 6 and 8 horns, but it still wasn't without issues.

At the time of writing this article, I have pulled the files from the site but kept the mod's page up. This is mostly to limit any complications once a fixed mod is released, but also because I think I've now got my head around the issues and how to solve them... at least the ones within my power to solve.

I've done a lot of testing along the way. I've had to uninstall and reinstall this mod countless times, including times when the mod was broken or causing other issues. In doing so, I think I've figured out how to cleanly uninstall the old versions, although for me that did involve deleting some stuff I wasn't sure I should delete, and then verifying game files through Steam. I'll include all of this info when I release the fixed version.

Thank you for your patience and support while I work on this. The community here is fantastic, and has really helped me identify issues and given me time and space to resolve them. I appreciate you all.

Below is a summary of the issues, and how I've fixed them. Not all of these were reported by the community. There are also issues not specific to my mod (for example, AMD GPUs reportedly cause a modded game to crash... which I am somewhat astonished by).

Missing textures
Issue: This issue cropped up because I hadn't structured the folders correctly. Some people could see the textures, other couldn't, and I believe that's due to the below issue.

Fix: I've been much more careful and deliberate about folder structures this time, which is helped by being more familiar with them.

Textures persisting after uninstall
Issue: Basically, release one was janky, and unfortunately, in some cases, left orphaned files here and there. Specifically, due to the above issue, some files weren't being deleted because they weren't in the correct folder structure, andthe game was still reading them into memory. This is something which I struggled to figure out, and I'm actually still not 100% sure it's fully accurate.

Fix: Same as for missing textures

Missing mesh in Seikret pouch
Issue: This one was just a brain fart. I deleted that mesh from the file without really knowing what it was for.

Fix: I actually started the model element of the mod from scratch, and didn't delete the mesh this time :)

Mesh in a weird position in Seikret pouch
Issue: Sometimes you fix one thing only to reveal another...

Fix: Transformed the verts within the mesh to position things correctly in relation to the armature

Missing Audio
Issue: Audio worked, or it didn't. Different people seemed to have different results. Again, I think this is due to how I had structured the folders.

Fix: Rebuild the soundbanks from scratch, ensured they went in the conventional folder path

Black triangles on model
Issue: There were a couple of black triangles on the model, which weren't correctly reflecting the textures.

Fix: At first I thought this was a texture issue, but it turn out there were some flipped normals in the mesh. Literally on 2 of the tris. It was hard to debug because this mesh is awful (and yes, I modelled this myself, so I'm to blame!)

Missing names/descriptions
Issue: The modded horns still had the old names and descriptions

Fix: Figure out how to update text in the game and then update the text in the game. This is more of a 'new feature' than a bug fix, I suppose.

HD Texture Pack
Issue: I haven't been running the HD texture pack, but apparently that can override textures nested deeper in the file system (which includes the textures for this mod)

Fix: Not sure yet; I suspect I'll just have to copy/move the textures into some other folder. I'm downloading the HD pack now, and will do a bunch of testing before claiming it to be fixed.

Thanks again for your support. Keep on Honking and Bonking, HH mains. *doots into the distance*
