Version 1.0
Initial release
Q: Do we really need yet another layered weapons mod? A: Maybe not, but the only others that support different appearances for different Artian weapons do so by writing to the save file, which risks breaking it for future game versions. I'm not willing to risk my save, so made my own version that doesn't touch it. It's also easier to use, and supports changing the appearance of other players' weapons.
Usage
Equip the weapon you want to replace the appearance of in the secondary slot.
Equip a weapon with the desired appearance in the primary slot.
Open the RE Framework window and expand "Script Generated UI" -> "Weapon Layering".
Click the "Layer [primary] over [secondary]" button.
Sharing The Saved section contains codes for each individual layering, and for all of them together. Send codes to other players using this mod, and paste their codes in the Import section to adopt their settings.
Settings
When "Store detailed Artian IDs" is disabled (the default), Artian weapons are identified by their element. For example, all SnS Artians with fire damage would share a layered appearance.
When "Store detailed Artian IDs" is enabled, Artian weapons are also identified by their production and reinforcement bonuses, making the appearance essentially unique per instance. Only two weapons with the exact same sequence of upgrades would share layering. Upgrading a weapon will change its detailed ID, "forgetting" previously applied layering.
"Apply globally" makes your saved layerings apply to all players, and to the character selection screen. When disabled, only your own fully-loaded character's weapons are affected.
Notes
Layering is local to your game. Other players will see the original weapon appearance... unless they are also using this mod, and you've sent them your codes.
Layerings are not per-character, so if your friends are using the same weapons you are, only one appearance will be shared among all. You can use detailed Artian IDs to make conflicts less likely.
This mod does not write anything to the save file, so doesn't risk breaking your save for future game versions. Uninstalling doesn't need any form of "cleanup."
