New version 2.0.x of the mod has been released! Please download this version if you're using an earlier 1.x mod version, as this is the definitive, final version of the mod. I probably won't substantially update this mod further, outside of potential bug fixes and miscellaneous improvement tweaks that could come up.

Don't be a knucklehead that uses this in online random lobbies; the mod is for use w/ friends and solo play only.


The core LMT of this mod was created by Fexty.

Gameplay mod for Charge Blade with safer SAED and AED recovery options.

  • You can Savage Axe Slash during the end of AED, SAED, and their corresponding recoil animations.
    • This means you can intercept a potential monster attack with a Guard Point during this recovery period, thus making the SAED and AED attack far safer now, provided you can fully land the attack from start to moment of impact.
    • Also means you can stay in axe mode after an AED, by way of AED > Savage Axe Slash.
  • Instantaneous Axe mode guard point via the Axe-to-Sword Roundslash morph attack.
    • This opens up a GP > AED shortcut in Axe mode, and generally allows the player to be more aggressive and mobile while in Axe mode.
  • You can SnS forward roll or side hop cancel out of the latter portion of AED, SAED recoil animations.
    • This can be used for repositioning during monster CCs (topples, KO), or just to get an extra Roundslash on the monster after an AED/SAED.
    • This roll cancel is now updated to only activate in the latter part of the AED, SAED recoil animations, thus making this roll cancel mechanic look and behave far more naturally.
  • Slightly faster Savage Axe Slash.

Update Log:

Ver 2.0.1 - Slight Animation Tweaks:
  • Savage Axe Slash activates 1 frame faster, to fix a visual bug with a elongated looking Savage Axe Slash when the move queued at the end of an AED. 
  • This update only changes the MBD file, so if you don't like this animation tweak, you can instead opt to use the Ver 2.0 MBD file.
Ver 2.0 - Definitive version:
  • Roll cancel will now only activate during the latter portion of AED, SAED recoil animations, which makes the roll cancel mechanic feel far more natural/less janky to use.
  • This roll cancel is given an input buffer.
  • Savage axe slash from AED/SAED can now be activated quite a bit earlier now, specifically, right after AED finishes its arc of motion and right after SAED hits the ground and unloads phials.
Ver 1.2.1 - Singularity bug fix:
  • Fixes a bug with version 1.0 of the mod where there was a singularity, between the end of AED/SAED to their respective recoil animations, where the Savage Axe Slash cancel is unable to be activated.
Ver 1.0 - First mod release:
  • Has all of the core mod features.
  • Able to roll cancel during any portion of the AED/SAED end animation.
