About this image

The Devourer is a model Bethesda made for Morrowind that was never featured in the final game. Based of the model and textures, it is safe to say that the Devourer was supposed to be some sort of book in-game. Suffice to say, I loved how it looked, so I decided to fix it up for release, so maybe someone else can make it into the dream Beth had for it. It's featured in my modders' resource mod compilation here: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44098/?

Any thoughts regarding it? I think it'd be cool to hear some ideas for what it could be used for! Perhaps the secret remains hidden with Bethesda, or perhaps lost for eternity... whatever the case, this is one helluva cool model IMO!

    Hey can I borrow this screenshot for morrowind's Cutting Room Floor page? Will save me the trouble of having to make my own. If you want, I can credit you. Also, I hear the model's kinda broken from some people. What's exactly wrong with it?

      Sure, go ahead :)

      edit: The mesh doesn't have proper facing tris, and some of the UVs are sketchy at best. I've got a fixed version somewhere that I can pull up for you if you'd like. :)

      Yep That's the only mention you really ever hear of it, though, and I've not seen anyone actually try and fix it, so I did!

      on post #11 it says the textures were fixed by somebody over tat the official forums. Honestly, this game has been picked apart and put back together again a million times. I highly doubt you are going to find anything that hasn't been done already. That post is from 2003 LoL I am sure at least 100 other people have done the same thing since then... seriously

      It is fun to think about what this book could have been. It could be like one of the Black books in Skyrim leading to another realm! it's cool that you added it to your resource mod... it could be the beginning of a new quest mod

      I did read that, but I couldn't find any existing fixed models (tbf, I never really tried too hard to search for one). But you're right that the game's been picked apart. I don't completely agree with you that "everything's been done before" in regards to Morrowind modding; I think that, especially with the coming of technology and addition of newer modders, relatively new ideas are brought here quite often. Even if the "original" idea's been done, new and old modders alike gain new inspiration for new ideas.

      Although, come to think of it, everything these days happens to be reboots or remakes in the movie world, so I guess it's not that long of a stretch into the game world where those ideas are seen, either >v<

      Whatever, though.

      No, you are right. You have reminded me of the Shakespeare quote when he was asked where there inspiration for all his novels came from and he answered that he stole every idea from books he had read earlier in his life. The truth is nothing is truly original. Everybody steals from somebody. It is how you remake it that counts. It your own little spin on an old idea that makes it new again. Like the idiom: "Everything old is new again, fashions and trends are repeated or revived... hey it's all good

      Actually there is fixed model for Devourer included in MGSO. I'm not sure who fixed it, though.

      @RE4PER 0^0 I didn't know that, actually. I never really used MGSO, as my computer can't take it >v<. Maybe that's the one that Psijonica pointed out? :3

      @Psijonica be inspired! Think Shakespeare. Make us theater kids proud! ^v^);

      @ Psijonica: "stolentelling", to say it with Joyce.

      @ Pikachuno et al: I think it should have been a Dwemeri book ... I have dim memories of a mod which fixed the modern book meshes in Bamz-Amschend with this one ...
