About this image

This was the result when I put "Tx_wall_stone_01" and "Tx_wall_stuccostone_01" through letsenhance.io. I think it is better than Morrowind Enhanced Textures (I also used a little trick to keep the tiling intact, which is one of the downsides of MWE). Unfortunately, this website is not free, and while the subscription is not that expensive, I don't think I can afford it at the moment. Not to mention the time it would take to put all textures through it. :D It also doesn't work like that for all textures, thatch didn't look nearly as good.

Letsenhance uses SRGAN which is a calmer beast less prone to artifacts. ESRGAN with the right training will surpass it tho, the only issue is that takes time and new innovations are coming regularly for the tools and techniques being used. One of those which I’m waiting for is a bug-free GUI program for training/upscaling, that will hopefully speed things up.

Well, so far I haven't been able to figure out how to set up one of these myself, there are always tons of requirements and often I don't even know what they are and how to get them.

Yeah, and there’s bugs and limitations makes the whole process cumbersome. In the near future that will be much more convenient with a proper inteface and a model repository.

I don't know if you are still interested or managed to get it working, but currently it isn't that hard.

I followed this guide to set up ESRGAN. On that page they listed some tools to actually use ESRGAN. I used ptrsuder's IEU which is linked first in the mentioned list. IEU's github page has all the instructions for setting it up and using it.

Also there is now a nice all in one database with trained models for ESRGAN. There is a wide variety of models out there. Some specialize in: removing compression artifacts of various image formats, de - oversharpening and de - blurring and there is a ton of them for upscaling.

      I hope it helped

Thank you, but I'm not interested in the moment, as I don't have the time any more.

The textures above are now included in Intelligent Textures, by the way.

You should be able to achieve same good result with Esrgan with training custom AI models for it.

hmm... Tx_wall_stone_01 is such a tricky one. Still looks a bit artifacty to me. I did find this version useful in combining with some other enhancement methods (Photoshop, ESRGAN, Gigapixel etc), results here: https://i.imgur.com/IkBEwyy.png
