New version v1.1 (requires Tribunal and Bloodmoon) is out now!!
CHANGES IN v1.1:
- Tell your scrib to "hurry up" (higher speed, but less carry weight) or "slow down".
- You can check your scrib's stat values. This helps to track level-ups and stat increases from feeding.
- Offer your scrib a cure disease potion to cure any diseases it may have caught.
- Make your scrib roar!
- The scrib may occasionally pick up random items off the ground.
- Fixed a bug where you could not successfully feed the scrib kagouti hide.
About updating:
BEFORE YOU UPDATE, make sure to remove any items you placed in the scrib's inventory, so that you don't potentially lose any items. If you are updating from the previous version, you may need to use console commands to delete your old scrib (or just kill it, but I recommend using the console to avoid any possible glitches). To do this in game, hit the "~" (tilde) key, click on the old scrib, type "delete", and then hit enter. The updated scrib will be leveled up to your current level, along with the according spells and stat changes, but afaik stat changes from feeding specifically do not transfer when updating.
LOCATION: Just northwest of Seyda Neen. See images for help.
FUNCTIONS/FEATURES:
Command Your Scrib:
Basic Commands include:
- follow me
- wait here
- roam around
- Share inventory with your "pack-scrib". Encumbrance threshold increases with strength. Stat boosts make a difference!
Leveling System:
Up to level 50, your scrib will level up with you. As its level increases, the scrib's stats will increase, too. Your scrib will start with roughly the same stats as any other scrib in the game, meaning it is quite weak at low levels. Leveling is not sufficient to reach 100 for any stat. Stats can be boosted outside of leveling by using the feeding system. As the scrib levels up, it will also learn new spells that can be used in combat, in addition to the standard paralysis spell scribs use normally (see the chart in images). The scrib will level while away from the player, too, and "catches up" to the level of your character when you first encounter it.
Feeding System:
"It's said that ampoule pods are poisonous to scribs. Or maybe scribs are poisonous to ampoule pods. Who knows?" - an unnamed denizen of
Morrowind
You can also feed your scrib! Feed your scrib various ingredients in order to heal it or boost its stats. Ingredients will generally boost the stats associated with their particular alchemical effects ( i.e. ingredients with a first effect of fortify / restore attribute will boost that attribute ). Some ingredients can even boost your scrib's stats beyond the natural max of 100. Additionally, there is no max value for health, magicka, or fatigue, so those stats can be boosted indefinitely. Take a look at the chart to see the effects of each ingredient. Watch out, though! Some ingredients have negative effects, such as hurting your scrib and even lowering stats, too! And there are also some "secret" ingredients. It's up to you to find out what those are and what they do.
Status Check:
Check up on your scrib's health with the "status" dialogue option. Use this function to see your scrib's HP and fatigue, and whether or not your scrib is diseased.
Known issues:
- AI pathfinding for scribs is really bad and the scrib can get stuck in certain areas sometimes. I personally recommend the Easy Escort mod by NullCascade (thanks to commenters for the suggestion!) that is available here on the nexus to address this. With the mod, the scrib will be able to teleport to you if you get too far away from it. If you don't want to install that mod, casting a levitate spell on the scrib may help free up its movement, but I haven't tried it myself yet, or, alternatively, you can try the console command "tcl", but that also disables collision for all actors and objects.
I hope you enjoy my mod! I had a lot of fun making it, so I hope you will have fun playing with it, too. Please report any bugs you find in the comments page here.
