About this mod
This is a mod I made in an attempt to tune the combat up for the VR version of Morrowind. The biggest thing it addresses is fixing how easy the game is after installing any mod that causes you to always hit and is meant to be used in conjunction with a couple of other mods to make the combat more engaging and challenging.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
This is intended to be used with the VR version of OpenMW, I assume it will work with the vanilla game and outside of OpenMW (save for the Real Range and Elder Souls mod), but you'll have to try that for yourself.

About the Mod
I was really excited to find out that Morrowind was playable in VR. It was the first open world RPG like this that I played as a kid and it still holds up so well 20 years later. I tried just about every combat mod that worked with openMW, hoping to find one that allowed for more realistic weapon hitting and hitboxes as well as not making the game way too easy after adding that. What I have actually added myself involves adding significantly more Agility to every NPC and Creature in the game which causes them to not be permanently knock back frozen as well as increasing the speed at which NPCs and Creatures attack and the overall difficulty level of the game. There are a bunch of other smaller tweaks to balance out some of the other mods I have added here, such as a low fatigue penalty which will slow your character, as well as some edited versions of a few of the mods to make them more in line with my global NPC and Creature changes. There are a few other changes here and there such as Magika resistance and making blocking more directional.
There are two separate options for rebalancing the Fast Fatigue Regen
Fatigue Slow (Burden Stop).ESP - Less speed and jump reduction but when you hit no fatigue your character can't move until you regenerate
Fatigue Slow (No Stop).ESP - More speed and jump reduction but your character doesn't get stopped at 0 fatigue
I have been keeping the difficulty slider pretty low when I start the game just so I can get a couple of decent weapons and armor. Anything over 0 is gonna make it pretty tough to start the game, but I usually wind up keeping the game difficulty somewhere between 30-50 once I get my character set up. If you don't want the game to be too challenging try putting the difficulty slider in the negatives.
If anyone has any feedback for me that would be greatly appreciated as this is my first mod and it is very much in the beta phase. As of now I'm considering weakening Ranged attacks (marksman and destruction) as they are a little bit OP as well as further increasing enemy health so that the difficulty level scales a little better so you can take more than one hit, but are not so strong that you can kill most enemies with one hit.
