Description

Von Djangos' What Thieves Guild is one of my new favorite mods for Morrowind, making really simple changes that result in a more believable world and natural opportunities for roleplaying thief characters. Unfortunately, since it only covers vanilla NPCs, I was really let down when I went to an NPC in Tamriel Rebuilt that is hiding from the Thieves Guild in fear of their life, but who gave an inexperienced nobody the keys to the kingdom the moment I spoke to them.

This mod seeks to expand What Thieves Guild to all of the members of the Thieves Guild in the current (23.10.1) Tamriel Rebuilt worldspace, both inside and outside of major cities. Some will trust you more easily than others, some will take some legwork to meet, and some are perfectly willing to sell out their own guild... if you've got the coin.

Place this mod below both Tamriel Rebuilt and What Thieves Guild in your load order. Please report any bugs or strange/unintended behavior you see.

Huge thanks again to vonwolfe for creating the original mod.

Features

  • Adds a variety of unique contextual dialogue to every Thieves Guild member in Tamriel Rebuilt, taking into account how you meet them, where they are, their personalities, and how much they feel they can trust you.
  • Makes every Thieves Guild ringleader unique. Some will trust you nearly as easily as those on Vvardenfell, while with the Camonna Tong breathing down their necks, others will be more hesitant to hear you out.
  • Fleshes out minor quests to meet Thieves Guild leaders, either by making them more challenging or by making it more difficult to skip steps.

To avoid spoiling the Tamriel Rebuilt experience for new players, further details about the changes can be found below:

Requirements to join the Thieves Guild:

Spoiler:
Show

- Shei in Andothren requires 75 disposition before she'll let you join the Thieves Guild.

- Cap'n Fentus in Old Ebonheart requires 70 disposition before he'll let you join the Thieves Guild.

- Gordol the Tailor in Almas Thirr will deny being a member of the Thieves Guild until you give him the code phrase, but can be convinced by your skill if you have 65 disposition with him and you sneak past Banjar Long-Face without receiving it. The associated journal entries/quest and the "Are you looking for me?" greeting have have been changed to account for this.

- Cornelius in Firewatch is harder to convince, requiring 70 disposition. Fitz-Fitz will allow you to join the Thieves Guild right away if you talk to her, regardless of whether you convinced Cornelius or snuck past him.

Other NPCs:

Spoiler:
Show

- Dialogue for backgrounds, greetings, and other flavor text has been added to other Thieves Guild NPCs in The Howling Noose, The Limping Scrib, and The Empress Katariah. Most of them will direct you to the ringleader at 65 disposition. Some of them are Antio Florane.

- Further dialogue has been added to Mainette Jes in Helnim, Cinda Pelelius in Nivalis, Elegras in Idathren, and Fillim in Tel Mothrivra. All of them will direct you to the nearest Thieves Guild leader if you ask them about joining the Thieves Guild and have 65 disposition.

- Alammu Lethri will give you the names of all of the Thieves Guild leaders on the mainland, and a few hints about some on Vvardenfell, in exchange for gold. A few journal entries have been added to note this.

Miscellaneous changes:

Spoiler:
Show

- All members of the Thieves Guild faction will no longer brazenly admit to criminal activity if you ask them for a "little advice," unless you're also a member of the Thieves Guild. This is a change to vanilla dialogue and will apply to any NPC in the faction, including those added by other mods.

- Minor changes have been made to miscellaneous dialogue topics so that Thieves Guild NPCs won't mention they're in the guild unless you're a member. This includes the topics "Delagia's Gang" and "Dusters."
