Reason: At the risk of self-promotion, I have to document an issue that arises when playing as a hero under the age of 16. Namely, unwanted invincibility.

Please read this article thoroughly, as if your issue is found here, your bug/support request will be ignored.

Current issues

Crashing
If you're experiencing crashing while using Detailed Character Creation, that means you DID NOT install the mod correctly. Either you did not enable the required modules, or you did not move your modules into the correct load order. If you're crashing in-game (likely because you're a child), you did not read advanced configuration in order to set that up correctly.

Children in the current state

Currently, there are a few issues with children. There are a few mechanics behind how children operate differently than adult characters. There are a few tiers of ages that have different mechanical rules they must abide by. Let's go over the differences.

New born -- As defined by ages 0 to 3
New born heroes, have 0 interactive events in the base game. When a child is born, they proceed to immediately be brought to either a) the main hero's city, or b) the father hero's city. New borns will proceed to stay there in a dormant state until age 3.

Infants -- As defined by ages 3 to 6
Infants are also a delicate subject as they are also dormant and generally unable to be interacted with. New borns and infants seem to just slowly age without any impact from the world's activities around them.

Children -- As defined by ages 6 to 14
By the time of childhood, these heroes can be interacted with in their corresponding city. They'll typically be found in either the keep, or the village. There isn't much interactive available other than a few conversation dialogues. At this state, they may still not be brought into the party, or be moved from location to location.

Teenagers -- As defined by ages 14 to 18
Similar to children, teenagers are still unable to be brought into parties, or moved around. Teenagers will have conversations available to them, and eventually will grow into full adults.

Adults -- As defined by ages 18 to 47
By the time heroes reach "of age", they will become independent heroes, and will be accessible for inviting into your party, enlisted as companions and hold the ability to claim fiefs. This is the age point that the game expects the main hero to be in. If the main hero, or any companions of the hero are in his party, that are not classified as "of age", then bugs will start to happen. Such bugs include: Heroes not being able to access the skills screen. This will prevent you from being able to allocate attribute points or skills into the character. Heroes not of age will also not be directly searchable in the encyclopedia.

Elderly -- As defined by ages 47 to 128
Elderly function very similar to adults. The difference being, women are no longer fertile, meaning they are unable to become pregnant. Otherwise, everything stays the same.

Max Age -- Defined as 128
This is the age that heroes, if not already slain by executioner, or death on the field, will die of old age. It is quite a large number some would consider, but that's why we allow you to tweak it in our settings.

Playing as heroes under Adults
If you wish to play with or as heroes whom are under the adult tier, you must read the advanced configuration on the mod page description. It goes over setting up the configuration file which will resolve any crash, broken UI and other various bugs related to using non-adults.
Additionally, a TaleWorlds "feature" since e1.3 blocks damage from being dealt to agents under the age of around 16. While it can make playing as a minor feel invincible, it's probably not what you want to experience. While DCC does not (yet) patches this, Designer225's Miscellaneous Mods does include a "fix" (really a workaround) to this feature. If you want to play as a hero under the age of 16, you will have to install that mod in addition to following the directions below "Advanced Configurations." Warning: you are not getting much help, even from Designer225, if you do play as a minor!

Customization Options
Adding new customization is tricky in the current state of the game. While, we have the information required in order to add new features such as hair colors, hair styles, textures etc., the game will automatically start to designate these new options to heroes already in the game. This is because each character follows a unique hash-code, and whenever something new gets added, the hash codes get scrambled and new results are created. Currently, there is no "quick-fix" to the addition of new content. We are working on a brand new FaceGen window that will only be accessible to the player, which means NPCs will appear exactly as they do in the vanilla game and will only be varied upon the player manually adjusting their appearance (whence the new interface is completed). We would love to add more customization options to the game for you to be able to use; but as you already know, simply adding in new things such as sliders has a large impact on all NPCs currently in the game. This is because, the game pulls very specific data from a file called skins.xml when generating the body properties for them. Currently, I am looking for ways to override certain parameters so that we can add more customization safely without having drastic impacts on the characters in the world. Once we figure out how the game decides these parameters we'll be able to safely add more body sliders, more face sliders, more hair choices, colors and face tattoos and markings.

As of v1.4.0.10/11, skin.xml is no longer used; instead skin file changes are effected by using XSLT (as in Eagle Rising). This should improve compatibility with skin files, provided they do not overwrite skin loading mechanisms (which DCC no longer does).

Quick overview of the current bugs

Currently, there are a few bugs presiding which we need to figure out to get this mod operating to it's fullest extend at this time.

Slim, Fat, Tall or Short NPCs
Unfortunately, TaleWorlds has been adjusting parameters to the appearance of NPCs to make them more unique looking. In 1.0.0 they were all basically average height, and average weight. Every update has caused them to be skewed slighty. This is a bug TaleWorlds needs to resolve and is not directly related to DCC. DCC only produces the 0 value slider issues, which is still being worked on.

Submitting a bug request

If you feel you've encountered an issue that is not covered by this article, feel free to open a bug request. If any bug requests are made that are related to issues covered in this article, the request will be deleted and ignored. This is because I simply repeat myself many times per day with the same answers to the same problems.

Things you can do to help

The most useful thing you can do to help this mod improve, is keep sending detailed crash reports. The more information you can supply, the easier it will be to locate and squash bugs. Screenshots, videos and as much information as you can provide will ensure the most resourceful report you can supply.

Developers: If you're a developer, and you're interested in helping advance this project, contact me and we can get you set up and ready to start contributing. The more hands working on issues we have, the more refined this project will be.

Artists: Have you got a knack for texturing, modeling or animating? Well we'd love to have your assistance with adding new game models and customization features to the mod! We'd love to have some new hairs, textures, body meshes, etc! Send me a DM and we can try and figure out how to get your experience working in Bannerlord.

Voice actors: We'll be needing voice actors to incorporate new hero voices. We'd like to increase the core game's voice counter by at least a dozen. This will improve immersion, and eventually once multiplayer support arrives, will improve our multiplayer creation database.

If there's anything else you think you could contribute to this project, don't be shy! All assistance is welcome, just send me a message and we can discuss it further.

Conclusion

That's all I have for now, I'll be keeping this article updated as much as possible to give the users as much information as possible into the current state of the mod. Thank you.
