About this mod
This mod allows you to customize the price and stats of companions when you are hiring them. For example: all companions will cost 500, will be level 1 and have 20 in all stats.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
I created this mod, because I enjoy playing heavily companion oriented playthroughs and it was too time consuming to use Character Reload to edit every companion and downgrade them, not to mention I was paying 2-4k for a blank level 1 companion.
I hope this helps fellow companion enthusiasts.
Features:
- Enables you to change the hiring prices of companions to a static value.
- Enables you to edit what skills, attributes and focus points newly acquired companions start.
- Enables you to keep the original traits of these companions, otherwise they will have none.
- All of this is configurable through MCM and these patches can be enabled or disabled as you wish.
All of the changes apply to EVERY companion you hire - if you set the price to 500 denars, every companion will cost 500. If you set the companion level to 5 every companion will be level 5 etc.
Installation:
Manual: Download, unzip and put "CustomCompanionHireSettings" folder inside Bannerlord's Modules folder.
Vortex: Works as intended, just press the download button.
Do not forget to enable the mod.
Removal:
You should be able to freely remove (or add) this mod in the middle of the playthrough, however read below for some considerations (Warning - Technical Detail section).
Updating:
Unless stated otherwise, it is safe to update to newest version, nothing should break.
Usage:
In the Main menu (or ingame under Options) under Mod Options there is a setting section "Custom Companion Hire Settings", here you configure the mod, enable/disable patches and edit the values.
If you for example want to hire a companion the normal way - normal price, normal stats - do not talk to them about the price (that will trigger the changes, see below), disable the patches and return back to your game. Original calculations and stats will be used this way.
Version Compatibility:
Should be compatible with every official version. I will test v1.2 once it comes out of beta
General Mod Compatibility:
This mod should be compatible with any companion mod out there. For mods that change the price or work with the stats when you hire a companion it depends whether the mod uses Harmony and how they deal with applying their patch.
If a mod changes the stats/price using a different approach, the changes applied by this mod may be overwritten.
Banner Kings Compatibility:
There is now a special version of this mod that is compatible with Banner Kings, if you encounter any issues, please let me know
Recommended Mods:
Character Reload - allows you to customize characters, which includes companions, changing their appearance but also stats etc.
More Companions For My Tavern - increases the amount of companions in taverns
Unlimited CAP - lets you increase the companion limit
Equip Best Item - lets you and your companions equip the best items with a press of a button
Warning - Technical Detail:
This mod alters the companions during price calculation, this was the quickest and easiest way to implement it and I would be happy if someone told me a better solution.
!!! This means that the moment you ask the companion for their price the patches apply - their level, stats etc. get changed and if you save the game these changes will stay EVEN if you do not hire them.
Possible future additions:
- Enable modifying age - easy
- Add randomness and range to the stats - Level between 1 to 5, Age between 25 - 35 etc. - easy
- Enable the user to edit specific attributes/skills/focuses rather than adding a static value to all - easy
- Option to make the system more akin to vanilla, you select a level you want all companions to be, but they keep their specialty skills/attributes the same, just tweaked to the given level, example: "the Smith" would have more skill in Smithing, Two Handed etc. just like vanilla but the stats would be adjusted (up or down) based on the level - hard. time consuming
- Create some sort of companion generation system, where stats would depend on culture, age and other things. Create settings to fully customize this feature - no idea
- Create a more "forceful" patch, not based on Harmony, which would hopefully work with mods that fully skip vanilla hire calculations (ex. Banner Kings) - no idea
- Find a proper solution to changing the stats, so they only change after you hire them - no idea
- Rename the mod, this name is a bit boring
